I think the show would have benefited from more of the military. They could be the antithesis of Wakeman. A group with on the surface similar goals but in reality drastically different motivations and ideologies (at least it seems at first). It'd be a good way to tackle themes like existentialism, the purpose of violence, the nature of technology as power and so on. There could even be a "real villain" type character who's a scientists equally as brilliant but with a more nihilistic and fatalistic world view his ideas could be the kind that Jenny struggles with throughout the show. Cluster prime could have been the starting point for this portion of the story.

It's easy to take potshots at others who are just having fun and at the very least are not totally deluded like Chris-chan.
But you can't fully judge a person on their drawings alone. Read their comments and journals. Really get to know them.
They show their drawings in a community they feel welcome in, and probably need the ego boost if they are sad IRL. It is an outlet. What they need is genuinely good friend who can set a good example for improving their actual lives, so they won't need to rely on the fandom.
Most are reasonable and willing listen. Those are the ones you encourage.
