We've finally gotten to Iron Fist's solo series, Anons!
>>
>>
And now, a recap for those of you in the cheap seats.
>>
>"Make a move, and I'll give you the ole' Man of Steel!"
>>
This is right up there with the end of Superior Spider-Man in terms of "most embarrassing villain escape"
>>
>>
>>83465436
Cool, something to read bfore bed.
Thanks. I love this period at marvel.
>>
And she's back again!
>>
>>83465580
I may be biased, but yeah, 70's-80's are totally my favorite period in Marvel's history.
>>
>>
>>83465623
I really like a good deal of the output from the 60's too.
>>
Gotta love when the Damsel in Distress is almost able to escape on her own.
>>
>>
Those of you who know more modern Iron Fist can probably guess who this is. But for the benefit of those who aren't, please don't say who it is until we're officially told.
>>
Like many heroes of the age, Iron Man has been a victim of massive Power Creep. Whereas now he can probably go the distance with Thor, as long as he doesn't have the Odinforce, in these days a fight with Iron Fist is surprisingly even.
>>
So can Tony still do this, or did he take this ability out to make room for more defenses or something of that nature?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
So despite Iron Fist's victory quote in Marvel vs. Capcom, "Man of Iron vs. Fist of Iron" is indeed a contest.
>>
And now, Plant Monsters.
>>
>>83465921
I'm sure he has a suit lying around that can do it; but i wouldn't count on him whipping that trick out anytime soon. It's a bit gauche at this point, and more along the lines of something an antagonist would do.
>>
>>
>>
>>83465399
Second person narration is underrated.
>>
Despite this introduction, Merrin never appears again.
>>
>>83465603
That's a weirdly costumey outfit for Misty.
>>
>>
>>83465882
At least with Iron Man you have the excuse that he's improved his suits a lot.
>>
As has been mentioned previously, in K'un Lun, women aren't to be trained in martial arts.

>>83465921
I think he lost it along with his roller-skates.
>>
How do you manage to be in a city dedicated to Kung Fu, and still end up fat?
>>
>>83466118
This is the issue which makes K'un-L'un look REALLY assholish.
>>
You know, if you didn't yell when you threw that knife, you probably could've managed to hit them.
>>
Colleen is surprisingly hardcore for what we know about her.
>>
>>83466487
Despite how much Danny loves the place, yeah, it really does kind of blow.
>>
>>
Daily reminder that these are basically Danny's only friends in K'un Lun.
>>
>>83466537
This is so Claremont.
>>
>>
>>83466683
Maybe Danny just has Stockholm.
>>
The last panel is the first indication of... well, of Misty's right hand. Again, no spoilers until the reveal for the few of you who don't know.
>>
So in addition to the humans of K'un Lun being bastards, they've also got sentient plant monsters.
>>
>>83466703
Because it's a woman being strong, or because it's unusually fetishy? Either are technically "Claremont".
>>
>>83466862
I was thinking of the mindbreaking, but the tough woman works too.
>>
>>83465484
Tony Stark kidnapping people to get mineral rites is sadly, now a plausible scenario.
>>
>>
>>83466815
>you are now aware that flowers are plant's sex organs, and that Danny was stopping to smell one of their dicks
>>
>>83466921
Where did it all go so wrong?
>>
>Brother
And as shown at >>83466491 her last name is "Ran'd'kai"

That's certainly a fascinating twist, isn't it?
>>
>>83465603
>And she's back again!
And wearing what looks to be a superhero outfit, going by the belt buckle.

When does she lose the arm? Is it before or after she's seduced by the lesbian vampire?
>>
>>83466956
The Crossing maybe?
>>
>>
>>83466991
It's already happened, see >>83466747
>>
>>83466815
>>83466862
Can't say I've ever been a fan of this aspect of K'un Lun's mythology that Claremont added. The idea that the city is some intrusion into a planet in a pre-existing dimension, inhabited by plant people. I don't see how it adds much to the "quasi-Chinese folklore" vibe.
>>
>>83465665
>Tony Stark is a man who looks after his friends

>Unless they want to upgrade their suit before fighting Thanos
>Or they choose to disagree with him when his politics get kinda fascist
>Or he just forgets them because he got mindwiped again.
>>
>>83465803
He looks less Asian than I expect.
>>
>>83466991
Wait, lesbian vampire? When'd that happen?
>>
>>83467064
I feel so bad for Tony fans.
>>
>>83465882
Is there something that's like, the opposite of power creep? Because sometimes I feel like Thor's had a touch of that happen to him.
>>
>>83467102
In one of those Daughter of the Dragon stories from Deadly Hands.
>>
>>83467124
I think he's jobbed so much that it sort of stuck.
>>
>>83467054
It was always like that, or at least it wasn't always on Earth. Remember, it was mentioned even in the first issue it was made clear that Kun Lun only existed every ten years.
As for the plant people? I like the idea that there's variety in a setting. One of the things that triggers me in Sci-Fi or Fantasy is things like "Planet entirely of Ice" or "Realm of only desert" and the like. I like that K'un Lun has a lot of things besides people.
>>
>>83467124
Well TvTropes makes me think it's called "Power Seep". That said, it's weird that Thor is nerfed so much, when, according to the Claremont Omni's, he specifically compared Jean Grey's Phoenix to Thor and Superman, yet she never seemed to be nerfed like him.
>>
>>83467234
>It was always like that, or at least it wasn't always on Earth. Remember, it was mentioned even in the first issue it was made clear that Kun Lun only existed every ten years.
Not really what I meant. In arc with the ninja from the book, K'un Lun's separate realm status seemed to be more mystic in origin, and wasn't suggested to be on an "alien" planet. It seemed more like an artificially created pocket dimension. Claremont's additions make them kind of colonists, in a way that is kind of difficult to work with.
>>
>>83467157
I've never actually read Deadly Hands. I'm going to storytime it, though. We'll all just be reading it fresh.
>>
>>83466238
>>83466290
Maybe he was put to death for trying to kill an Iron Fist against Yu-ti's commands?

>>83466352
Man, a lot of Europeans seem to be in Kun-Lun.
>>
>>83467415
>Maybe he was put to death for trying to kill an Iron Fist against Yu-ti's commands?
Possible, but you'll note that he wasn't one of the people told to freeze.

By beating everyone else up and taking their food, being the best at Kung-Fu, and getting the city specific magic chi skills.
>>
>>
>>83467490
Are you trying to imply that one of those little shits is Fat Cobra?
>>
>>83467365
It's technically a magazine, not a comic, so standards were a bit looser. Misty and Colleen's nipples were visible through their clothes most of the time.
>>
And as has been mentioned a few times, this is the first confirmation that Misty Knight has a bionic arm. Back in these days, she had a flesh-appearing cover for the arm.

Related, does anybody know when exactly Misty stops hiding her metal arm?
>>
>>83467561
God damn it, am I going to have to spoiler entire pages? Or worse, have the pages deleted because I miss a nipple?
>>
>>
>>
>>83466352
I just remembered the female Iron Fists Fraction retconned in. Are we to assume they were before this ban, maybe?

Because it was still in place during Fraction's run. It was even a plot thread.
>>
>>
>>83467603
I think 'outlines of nipples seen through clothes' is still technically safe, as is all the cameltoe in Colleen's outfit. There is one straight up topless scene, you might want to cover it up a little.
>>
>>83467621
>Misty reads Punch
>>
>>83466977
Sister, older by a decade or so to allow for Wendell to get gone?
>>
>>83467656
I only remember the one Female Iron Fist in Fraction's run (the Pirate Queen), and I think she was all but stated to be the reason the ban was put in place.
There was also the one that Bendis introduced in Avengers vs. X-Men who was also a Phoenix Host... but it was Bendis.
>>
>>83467702
Her backstory is expanded upon later, but she is older than him by a fair amount.
>>
>>83467234
>One of the things that triggers me in Sci-Fi or Fantasy is things like "Planet entirely of Ice" or "Realm of only desert"
And yet, those two are actually semi-plausible whole planet biomes.

I get your complaint about every alien culture and planet being more homogonous than a single family dwelling on Earth, though. SFF writers sadly tend to get a bit lazy on worldbuilding there to force their metaphors.
>>
>>83467673
Well, that's going to be fun when I finally get there.
>>
>>
>>83467296
>>83467365
Wait, why were Danny and Misty flying Canadian?
>>
You've got to admire the improv there. He takes the time out of his meltdown to immediately think of a new villin name right there.
>>
Huh, so that happened. One more issue, or are you all too tired?
>>
>>83467537
Oh, no no no.
First off, he's not from K'un-Lun.
Secondly, they are clearly not majesticly obese enough to be the Fat Cobra.
>>
>>83467845
I'm ok with one more.
>>
All right, one more for the road!

THE Holocaust was always the Nazis. "a" holocaust, on the other hand, simply meant a lot of lives being lost. It just became one of those things that just became poor taste.

This period of Marvel from my point a view, the growth of what it will become. The groundwork was there but this period really connected the Marvel Universe of this place where you have Merry Mutants with their insanity, a family that gets into cosmic shit, a mystic protecting us from REAL dangerous stuff, a Spygroup that tries to regulate led by WW II vet, Dr. Doom showing us his swagger, a Kung-Fu asskicker who later becomes best friends with a Ex-Con Hero for Hire and a War Vet snuffing out Crime.

And this is the tip of the iceberg.
>>
>>83476419
Diggy.
>>
>>83468238
Ah, the Marvel universe, where Radiation is more likely to give you superpowers than kill you.
This guy wasted like a year of his life and all it got him was getting beat up by Ben Grimm.
>>
>>83477719
Well, MCU Tony has no connection to her, and seems to be throwing his money at MIT drug habits instead of disabled veterans/first responders.
