I think it's really good, yeah.
I'm not saying it's perfect, but for a concept that's essentially "superheroes except they're black and dealing with ghetto problems instead of supervillains" it's remarkably not-shitty. It helps that this was released before all the diversity and social justice stuff began to take hold.

There have been multiple characters named White Tiger (including one that was literally a white tiger). Kasper is another of Priest's OCs from his BP run.
He originally stole BP's costume so he could go undercover as BP to help his police investigations, but eventually earns the right to become a White Tiger, which is kind of like a Black Panther trainee.
A lot of the plot elements from The Crew, including the 66 Bridges gang and Triage, originate from Priest's Black Panther run.

The final arc of which was about Panther withdrawing from the world due to the onset of brain cancer or something and this dude from Harlem finding his suit.
