But outside of Robin War I can't think of any that had an entire crossover arc where you had to jump around from book to book the way you had to for H'el on Earth or Last Days which is what pissed me off about the way the Superman line handled theirs.

I think people who say Superman gave up on bringing back 52Supes too easily aren't thinking hard enough about it. Superman died once and already knows the specifics of what it took to bring him back and he can see that the things needed simply aren't present. I also would say that he hasn't exactly given up, but has shelved the idea for now in favour of being the 52verse's Superman. It's obvious when they do bring 52Supes back, Post Crisis Supes will have a major role in it.
