It didnt do that good because it's BOOORING. Apocalypse should of been an epic villain but instead is just lame. And of course Magneto(the Master of overacting) has to chew the scenery and do a Vader NNNOOOOOO. JLaw gave a half-assed performance (it's obvious she didn't want to be in this shitty movie). Fan characters like Psylocke and Archangel get next to no dialogue and banter and are just generic henchmen while Magneto shitty gwen-stacy family get more development.
Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Quicksilver, and Jean were the only watchable things in this movie. But they take a backseat to Magneto, Prof X, Magneto, Mystique, Magneto, and, of course, freaking Magneto (WHAT A SURPRISE! I KNOW!).
It doesn't help that general audiences prefer heroes to be inspiring and not emo and gloomy like in this movie. And they don't want to watch roland emmerich destruction porn (shit, Deadpool made fun of these cliche kind of movies).
