Depends on the area. The closer you are to any city(most of them suck compared to philly and nyc) and the shore it gets pretty unattainable. I'm in central jersey and the best prices are the aparments which are mostly hispanic families(which are chill af, imagine similar to the apartments you see in the back of worldstar fight videos, except minus the crazy black people). Sales tax is 7% which kinda sucks, but at long as you arent retail/burgerflipping experience lvl, employers are sympathetic and decent.

i read somewhere once tha tnew jersey is the only state in the country where every county is labeled as "urban" as opposed to "rural". that's not entirely true, because a lot of the southern half of the state is basically alabama. generally, when you get off the coast of the whole southern half, it's rural relatively cheap.
