that he was wearing when he set that guys house on fire
>>
Congrats?
>>
>>83280305
Okay? Your point being?
>>
>>83280456
>>83280393

Will Rorschach go to heaven or hell for this?
>>
Why did urine come out of his eyes? What did that mean? Was that a superpower he had all along?
>>
>>83280305
He's been wearing the same coat since the first issue
>>
>>83280512
Yellow piss filter is actually a metaphor for how people who can't compromise should drown themselves in hobo piss.
>>
>>83280539
Been a while since I read it but IIRC that outfit was a spare that he retrieved from his apartment after breaking out of prison.
>>
>>83280305
Daily reminder that Rorschach was a hypocrite and retards who like him miss the point of the character
>>
>>83280571
>compromising with a fucking mass murderer

I bet you think an assault weapons ban or "universal background checks" are compromises
>>
>>83280539
Wrong, he lost the first one when the police arrested him, that was the spare mask and costume

>>83280578
yes

>>83280612
He is no different than Captain America and his "No, you move" speech.
>>
>>83280914

>He is no different than Captain America and his "No, you move" speech.

Rorscach compromised multiple times throughout the comic. He even supported nuking Japan because it was for the "greater good".
>>
>>83281546
Fucking Japs deserved that shit.
>Sneak attack us like fucking cowards
>test biological weapons on china
>rape the fuck out of china and korea
>torture and kill american POWs
>get upset because you reap the hellfire you sew
>>
>>83281618
My question is this: why switch to nukes if firebombing did more damage and took more lives? Was it just for the intimidation factor?
>>
>>83281618
Trump pls
>>
>>83281649
Yea, gotta show the rest of the world that we figured out how to split the atom
>>
>>83281651
>it is controversial to say a nation that found it acceptable to rape millions of women, torture POWs, experiment with biological weapons, and were developing an atom bomb deserved to have 2 fission bombs dropped on them
>>
>>83281763
but the USA never got nuked?
>>
>>83281722
Shit, my postulation is more reasonable. Yours is just dickwaving.
>>
>>83281546

But that wasn't all done and built on a lie.

Also it was legally sanctioned.
>>
>>83280484
Neither, he becomes a shittier version of Freddy Kruger.
>>
>>83281839

So what about the times where he compromised and let Moloch off the hook because he felt bad for him?
>>
>>83281789
>hurr durr the usa is the evil buggy man

>>83281831
Russia despite not being at war with the japs the whole time were looking to carve up asia the same way they were with europe and germany. Without the bomb Russia decided to invade japan in the last weeks of the war and we have a berlin wall situation in Japan.
>>
>>83281918
>only the crimes of other nations count
>>
>>83281885
That wasn't really compromising. Rorschach is crazy, but he's not going to gut you for walking on grass with a 'do not walk on grass' sign or littering or some shit.

Moloch was some old dude who had spent years getting beat up and thrown in jail, and was a valuable resource for getting more information regarding the cape killer. Killing him/sending him to jail is just going to mean one less way to solve the case.
>>
>>83281980

>letting someone get away with breaking the law isn't compromising
>>
>>83281918
Didn't America and Britain agree with Russia to give the Ruskies parts of Europe for help against Hitler?
>>
>>83282024
Yea, which is why we had to limit the damage the fuckers did. Socialism and Communism where the 2 biggest causes of murder in the 20th century
>>
>>83280305
It's like poetry; it's so that they rhyme.
>>
>>83280305
>Men get arrested.
>Dogs get put down.
>>
>>83280612
>a hypocrite
He was a paranoid schizophrenic. Psychotic. A nut.
>>
>>83280305
Why did he take his mask off before he died? Was it just for dramatic effect?
>>
>>83282067
So, the A-bomb was still technically your fault. Gotcha. I'm being facetious.
>>
>>83282936
Moore foreshadowed Baneposting.
>>
>>83282936
Moore claims it's because Rorschach wanted to die as who we truly was: Walter, not the unstable vigilante Rorschach.

I prefer to interpret it as Rorschach wanting to die as the weak person who couldn't solve contradiction the situation caused in his moral code (Walter), instead of dying as the ideal of all that he valued he became in his mind (Rorschach).
>>
>>83282936
He was taking off his "face" and the identity he had built up over all that time, showing the scared, angry human being underneath to Jon (and the audience) so we could get a direct look at the cost of what was happening.

Notice his last "DO IT!" doesn't even have wiggly lines for the bubble. He didn't even die Rorschach: he died Walter.

But at the same time, Rorschach isn't done with the world; his journal might undo everything these godlike superintellects with their powers have done. Who knows? Nobody. That's the point.
>>
>>83282936
Because Walter may die but Rorshach will live forever
>>
>>83283043
You, I like your take. I think Moore's right and he wanted to die as a human being, but it was because he didn't want to think Rorschach could die at all.
>>
>>83283082
>his journal might undo everything these godlike superintellects with their powers have done.

Hardly. At best, it would be considered the Alex Jones manifesto of that world.
>>
>>83283105
Kinda sad, actually. Rorschach was less an identity, and more a crutch in the end.
>>
>>83283122
It could all get verified. It more depends on what that poor fatass decides to do with it after he reads it. The ending's ambiguous: it's all in his hands.
>>
>>83283183
Well, you know, most people put on a mask to protect their identity. He was trying to replace his.

Why /co/ has so much Rorschach haters?
>>
>>83283260
Considering it was in the pre-internet age, the actual facts would get muddied, lost, misfiled, lied about etc. until they reached a point where nobody knew the truth. Kinda like right now. We got official documents about old shit happening, but how do we know they're really true? No way to know. For our own sanity, we make an ultimatum that this is the truth because it seems the most likely. Otherwise, we'd be doubting every word ever uttered.
>>
>>83283338
Because enough discussion has taken place that most posters know how sad he is and no longer idolize him.
>>
>>83283338
not everyone comes from /pol/
>>
>>83283298
Most mask-wearers do so out of stable pragmatism, where Rorschach did it more out of a desire for stability in his already unstable mind.
>>
>>83283393
I don't blame him, we got a look at his life from the start and he never really had a chance.
>>
>>83283338
The majority of /co/ if from tumbblr and they hate straight white men
>>
>>83283414
True enough, which opens up all sorts of free will questions.

Do you have to think Rorschach was a perfect role model to not be considered a hater?
He's a fascinating character, but his moral compass was clearly warped by his wretched childhood. The fact that none of the other characters in Watchmen are much better doesn't change that.
>>
>>83281870
NOES remake never happened!
>>
>>83283585
It's weird how people can even like Watchmen without appreciating that every character is flawed and interesting in their own ways. Like, Ozymandias is my favorite but it's not like I go "HE WAS RIGHT AND PERFECT AND IF YOU QUESTION HIM YOU'RE AN UNTERMENSCH!"
>>
>>83283661
A lot of superhero comics try to make the heroes out to be role models, or at least trying to do the right thing for the right reasons. So I'm not surprised a lot of Watchmen readers look for somebody who's "right" in that story.
>>
>>83280612
>retards who like him miss the point of the character
You say that as if liking a character means you have to agree with their ideals and think they're a good person. That's actually very rare in characters I like.
>>
>>83281649
The nukes were a show of arms to Russia in addition to getting to test the effects of Radiation on a population.

It just so happens America was also at war with Japan and after fucking up a couple cities with a single bomb, Japan decided to cool their shit and surrender.
>>
>>83283437
This. It's crazy just how many numales are on this board. It almost makes me embarrassed to share this hobby with them but I remember none of the actual read comics.

Them*
>>
>>83283437
If you think Rorschach is a typical straight white male you're giving that perspective a lot of credit

>Because a country does something bad it is therefore completely morally acceptable to reduce its babies to ash

I think that ultimately America was right in dropping the bombs, but I just can't get my head around the edgelord thinking that it is in no way morally grey
>>
>>83280612
>You can just like characters that are right

What kind of retarded logic is this? God, superman fans are stupid
>>
>>83280612
I think the people who miss the point more at the ones who claim either he is right or Ozymandias is right.

There isn't supposed to be a right or wrong at the end of Watchmen. Ozy created world peace, but that peace came on the back of a lie. Wanting people to know the truth is not a bad thing in the slightest, hell it's 9/10 seen as a good thing, but is it a good thing if it undoes world peace making those people die for nothing?

Its supposed to be morally grey. Half of the point of the ending is to take a morally objectivist character like Rorshcach and put him in a situation where the black and white of moral objectivism straight up doesn't work

It was also a deconstruction of the primitive good vs evil view that comics have.

To be fair, wasn't that part from the essay he wrote at school at like ten years old?

He might have changed his world view since then. Maybe he wasn't as black and white before the whole Blair Roche thing.

What the fuck is Captain Pronin doing in those cape comics?
>>
>>83285537

Literally the only reason he considered Truman a good man and supported the atom bomb is because his father liked Truman, and his mother hated his father. So being a contrarian, and idolizing his absent father figure, he decided he liked Truman too.
>>
>>83286968
Well his mother was literally a whore and arguably worse a single mother
