But in the 2003 animated series Mike was the interdimensional ultimate fighter (twice) and defeated Ralf without even bothering to take out his nunchucks.
Mikes powerlevel are so much above that of the other turtles that they have to feed him so much pizza that he's in a food coma each fight for it not to seem unfair to the other turtles (and villains).

I loved Donnie as a kid. I liked purple and I liked him inventing stuff. Then I became a teenager and Raph's liner rebel personality resonated with me because I was a shitty teenager. And finally I'm back to liking Donnie again.
Always hated Michaelangelo and just never really thought about Leo.
Raph needs to stop being the main character in all of the movies. I'm so tired of it.

It's true. For some reason, the cartoons always make him into the least intelligent turtle, but he never comes across that way in the comics. He's an insufferable retard in the newest show, too.

The 2003 cartoon, but avoid seasons 6 and 7 ("Fast Forward" and "Back to the Sewer") because those were awful seasons (that feel more like spin-offs than actual seasons of the same show) and only exist because Playmates was given more control over the creative process behind the show in an effort to sell more toys, and the tone and writing suffered immensely. Season 5 got a little out there, too, but I didn't mind it, and ending with that, you at least get a conclusion to the series.

Leonardo is the most skilled fighter of the group, but he is dampered by anger. He lets his emotions cloud him.
Michaelangelo is the second best fighter of the four, but he is weakened by his inability to focus. He lets his mind wander.
Raphael is the third most skilled fighter, but he is strengthened by anger. He lets his emotions fuel him.
Donatello is the fourth best fighter of the four, but he is weakened by his interest. He would just prefer not to fight.
That being said, each turtle has their own rise and fall.
Leo becomes the worst fighter if he even gets slightly frustrated.
Raph becomes the best fighter if he uses his rage as a drive.
Mikey has the most potential for growth, he could be the most skilled, but he just does not have the discipline. He would rather pursue other things.
Donatello becomes an insane combatant when he uses his intelligence to his advantage, but most of the time, his intelligence tells him that fighting is not the option. He is most passive of all the brothers.

Leonardo, as a skilled fighter, was given the katana because of its risk. It is a sharp weapon, balanced, and heavy. He must always be in control of the blade, to wield it without harmimg himself or his brothers, or anyone else he comes across. It would be all too easy to kill or maim with it, but under specific instruction from Splinter to never kill or harm, it becomes a curse. With that said, Splinter makes him study niten ryu, just to keep him on his toes twice as hard.
Michealangelo was given the nunchaku for its ability to punish the user for lack of focus. You are always one daydream away from a new bruise. The nunchaku also are one of the only items that allow him to flourish creatively, giving his fighting style a unique flair, and allowing him to blow off steam and train at the same time. And just to keep him ever aware, he is given not one, but a pair.
Raphael was given the sai, a primarily defensive tool. Blunt on all sides, the sai (or zai, as a pair) are a policing weapon, used for crowd control and managing your opponents body in a passive way. For Raphael, this becomes an arduous task, as all he wants to do is bash some skulls in. He is forced to think about his fight to benefit the sai, and use it to its potential, and that has two purposes: to keep the Raph analytical in his mind and movements, and to show him that there are often non violent ways to end fights.
Donatello was given the bo: a long, simple staff. While considered still a weapon, it plays to his passive nature, as it does not feel or seem violent. In combat, Donatello has to figure out ways to use the bo offensively effectively, lest he just get beat upon, and serves the purpose of showing him that sometimes violence is necessary in defense; but he needs to figure out how to achieve safety with a simple staff.
