It's actually pretty noticeable they changed, but I'm not sure if it's better or worse really.
All I can tell is Season 2 (Boulder Media) does shading on their pivots more than in Season 1 (Mercury Filmworks) and it seems more smooth, but it might be more smears or something. Shading might've been added due to better budget though, MF might have been able to do it themselves but the few times they did might've been a bit much money.
