Do you guys know if when Morrison's exclusive contract with DC will end?
>>
>>83244031
Hopefully soon. I want him on Iron Man.
>>
Hasn't it already ended?

He did that Miracleman story with Quesada in December
>>
>>83244031
Isn't he the EIC for Heavy Metal magazine?
>>
I don't think he's exclusive with them right now
>>
>>83244043
I really want him on Spider-Man. I heard somewhere that Spider-Man is one of his favorite characters that he hasn't touch yet.

And Iron Man hasn't been good since 1990. It would be really cool to see him on Iron Man.
>>
>>83244043
I want him to write the fucking Fantastic Four, or Doctor Strange.
>>
I wouldn't mind if he signed on with Marvel either. It'd get him away form DC for a while.
>>
>>83244189
Why would we ever want our best writer gone?
>>
>>83244189
Let him keep going with WW: Earth One at least. I loved the first volume, but all the (reasonable) complaints seem to be about its anticlimax, and I hope the subsequent volumes can expand it.
>>
>>83244189
It sounds extremely unlikely that he'll ever work for marvel again
>>
>>83244298
Yeah, Quesada and and probably Alonso too would need to be gone for a chance for that to happen.
>>
>>83244331
Why Alonso?
>>
Marvelfags hate Morrison so probably never. Don't you remember how pissed off they were that he made Magneto a villain?

Morrison's favorite Xman is Cyclops. His ideas and ethics are completely foreign to Marvel fans. He might as well be writing for ants or something for all the good it would do him.
>>
>>83244031
He won't work for Marvel. There was a lot of back and forth during his run on X-Men. Marvel editorial was more strict about his work and ideas than DC.
>>
>>83244168
He's done Fantastic Four before, I'm pretty sure.

>wasting his talent for a liberal propaganda publisher

Didn't his X-men run get retconned into oblivion thanks to Bendis?
>>
>>83244351
I don't see Morrison fitting in with Marvel's current direction.
>>
>>83244554
King's Vision doesn't really fit into Marvel's current direction and that's the best thing they're doing so far.
>>
>>83244527
Morrison is liberal as fuck
>>
>>83244527
>Morrison
>not liberal
>>
>>83244601
When asked if he was going to tone down the sex and violence in Heavy Metal, he said he was going to tone it up. He's closer to, but not quite, working class liberalism like Ennis whose MAX work would be unwanted at current Marvel.
>>
>>83244059
Yes, but he wrote that story over a decade ago.
>>
>>83244031
about 52 years
>>
>>83244031
hopefully soon

I also want King on more books

exclusivity contracts are bullshit to begin with
>>
>>83244685
I hate exclusive contracts as a fan but I don't blame creators for signing them
>>
It's unfair to let him only shit on DC properties
>>
>>83244714
100% agree
>>
>>83244663
He's definitely left-leaning all things considered, but not really close to the american idea of leftism, let alone tumblr leftism.
>>
>>83244744
>Shit on

>>
>>83244031
There is no reason for him to work with another company when DC suck his dick so hard, anon.
>>
>>83244928
His "run" on Batman was the worst thing to happen to the character.
>>
>>83244331
This.

>>83244351
Alonso and Bendis are JQ's boytoy, that's why.
>>
>>83245081
(You)
>>
>>83244031
>implying Morrison won't be EIC by the end of the decade.
>>
Morrison writes for like five different publishers at the moment. All he needs now is to write for Archie.
>>
>>83244466
Yes. Fantastic Four 1234.
I'd like to see him do a full on run though.
>>
When will we get the 3 year long, 700 issue Hypercrisis event that merges every comic publisher into one earth?
>>
>>83244031
Maybe when he is gone we can go back at having actual stories instead of stories about stories and multiverse memes
>>
>>83245116
See? Not even you can defend it. It's horseshit.

So you didn't read WWEO?

I heard the opposite. That they offered him Spiderman but prefered to do X-Men because he couldnt think of anything for Spiderman apart from him fighting his rogues.

Why? If I want cheap porn I can read some doujinshi. Also that book was all about referencing her "original themes"

Jemas was the only one he had beef with and he's long gone, unless he really dislikes Disney I don't see why he wouldn't.

Or just tiring of corporate superheroes as a whole.
>>
>>83244389
Yeah that's why his xmen run is the most beloved among marvel fans
>>
>>83244031
it can't be that exclusive if he has Klaus going right now
>>
>>83245622
Quesada was the guy who put the mutant genie back in its bottle, turning them from a minority to a statistical blip, just a few years after he was gone.
>>
>>83245608
I loved this line.
Cheeky fucking Morrison.
>>
>>83245679
Old DC exclusives were only for DCU books. The new ones (announced in the last few months) have included Vertigo as well though.
>>
He doesn't have an exclusive contract.
>>
>>83244582
It fits in just fine. Anon's talking about Morrison as a person and not the work he'd produce.
>>
>>83245622
What was the beef about?
>>
>>83245696
Has he ever shown anger or disappointment in that decision?
>>
>>83245803
I got this from the Marvel Comics: The Untold Story book. Morrison had a lot of crazy ideas and Jemas didn't want anything to do with them (they specifically referenced his proposed Marvel Boy 2 sequel and Silver Surfer and Nick Fury ideas he had). Supposedly Jemas wanted Marvel Boy 2 to be more down to earth, like Nor-Varr getting a job and struggling with real life stuff. In Morrison's own words:

>"[Jemas] couldn't wrap his head around it," Morrison said. "Jemas wanted Marvel Boy based in a steel town, 'fixing things up good!'"

Quesada tried to smooth things over but it didn't work, leading to him screaming from Joe at a convention "THE MARVEL AGE IS OVER!"

Tough luck you plebs, he's not interested in doing any ongoings any time soon. Besides, Marvel shat on a lot of the concepts he introduced in New X-Men after he left and Marvel Boy has been tainted by that gowdawful Young Avengers book Gillen had.

Grant Morrison is an extraspacial entity that can only interact with our minorphysical plane inside of DC-owned locations ever since Alan Moore's dark rituals bound him to the company as a familiar.
>>
>>83244527
Which makes no sense considering that the guy is literally old school "flower child/free love/anarky against the establishment" incarnate

>"THE MARVEL AGE IS OVER!"
That has gotta be made up.
>>
>>83244031
I don't think he's exclusive. I think he just does the OGNs because he wants to and Didio lets him.
>>
>>83250885
I had to look it up to make sure, here's a transcript from the book:

>Morrison had given up on the idea of winning over Jemas, though, and during the San Diego Comic Convetion that summer, DC Comics announced that it had signed Morrison to an exclusive contract. Shortly after the announcement, a blindsided Joe Quesada cornered Morrison on the convention floor, where, according to one account, Morrison briefly fell into a panicky trance before railing against Jemas, whom he called "the biggest arsehole I've ever met."
>"It's over, it's over!" Morrison spat. "The Marvel era is done!"

(Sidenote I forgot about: The reason Joe was blindsided was that Morrison told him everything was good, and then the DC exclusive was announced. Joe got kind of shafted, but Morrison hated Jemas that much.)

A lot of mutie lovers hate it.

I've heard it before, but hearing it now made me spit take. It's hard not to love that bastard.

This is the best way to sum up those writers
>>
>>83244031
He doesn't have an exclusive contract. He's doing stuff for other companies and also is the Heavy Metal editor.

He said he doesn't like Marvel characters as much as he likes the DC ones though, which is completely understandable and logical since his themes are better suited to DC characters.

The writers at Marvel are just bitches on the end of editorials leash these days. Why would Morrison want to work for them?
>>
>>83257775
I would at least expect a counter argument against my claim so I can prove them wrong.
>>
>>83245889
That Nick Fury pitch got turned into The Filth, so good on him.

>morrison wanting to go anywhere near marvel

It's DC or original stuff. Marvel shit all over his run while DC let him make whatever he wanted and gave him limitless power. Batman Inc. was unchanged since the New 52 began and they let him finish the story he wanted. Then there was Multiversity. He couldn't dream of doing anything like that for Marvel.

Next thing you'll say that JMS should go back to Marvel.
>>
>>83261113
JMS left Marlel over Thor and OMD right?
