Right: character that changes drastically depending on the writer, is often shifted around and given random quirks and attributes to generate sales to the point where he seems like multiple characters instead of just one (see: Ultimate Cap)

Ultimate cap is a DIFFERENT character, and main cap would become vastly different over time due to having so many writers compared to movie cap. I'm sure most comic book characters stay consistent for awhile and end up changing too much due to many writers coming and wanting to do what they felt fit. If somehow the MCU goes on really long, you can bet your ass if Feige leaves, MCU cap will become completely different.

The real twist, at the end of this it is revealed that Steve is really Ultimate Cap. Reed screwed up putting the multiverse back together. 616 Steve is somewhere else.
80's Roger Stern and JM DeMatteis Cap remains the best Cap mainly because he wasn't a warmongering tard and had a civilian life outside of the superhero life.
