Fox literally had a movie leak out in it's entirety before it came out and it still made bank. The X-Men will always sell and if this is a box office disappointment, I can see them working on yet another X spin off. They're not Sony people.

>>83219214
Yeah I thought it was more than decent.
Apocalypse was cool, Storm was hot, Fassbender and MacAvoy were excellent as usual, and Lawrence and Jackman were featured just the right amount.
Jubilee was wasted, Nightcrawler was cool but at the same time really stupid-looking, and Psylocke was fucking terrible. But yeah, all in all a solid movie.
>>
>>83219180
On the shitty camrip, sure. Of course Im not telling you go watch the movie, just wait for the br torrent. Its exactly how Spider-man looks like a ps2 puppet in low res screenshots but looks great on screen.

Frankly I think Apocalypse had better effects than CW. The airport scene once you start analizying it without the SM and Antman hype, it really looks like a tv show.

BvS had much better cinematography, lightning and effects than both anyways. It was on another fucking level.
>>
>>83215664
maybe not, but he's going to be lucky to scrape past $600m on this, and on the $234m+marketing, he's probably going to have to make do with a Deadpool tier budget if he wants to make another movie for FOX

the opening weekends in the major overseas markets so far have been pretty shitty - going by those, he's set to make about $400m all in, which would be a Superman Returns-level disaster - and since none of these movies ever opened in China, this one probably won't either

that leaves the largest unopened market as the US, which means this weekend he has to make over $100m to end on $400m+ domestic. In fact at a gander I'd say it won't break $100m until the middle of next week sometime - Memorial Day weekend last year was shitty for movies - so if we suggest a high of $100m for the first domestic 7-day that's $50m the following week, $25m the week after, $12.5m the week after, $6.25m, and so on. Lucky to break $200m domestic; possibly matched, possibly higher overseas, but as with BvS there's nothing to pull it out of a nosedive now, because it's out everywhere else that could actually make a huge difference, and it didn't do as well as it needed to

>>83216770
>>83216822
Alice will almost certainly beat it, Angry Birds too

last year the top 5 for MDW only included 2 new releases, and none of them hit the #1 spot
>>
>>83215664
Your numbers are off all over the place.

$115 released when prices are higher and it still only did about the same a few years later in more countries than first international release. 3 day weekend expected to be lower than DoFP. Already declining in many countries because the older X-Men actors aren't in it. Plus your budget before advertising is way off.

Bryan might get bumped to producer and someone else brought in to direct, but I doubt the franchise production will change much. Deadpool made more money than any movie in the history of the studio. Kek. Deadpool. Fox are swimming in coke and hookers right now. X: Apocalypse might be a slight disappoint to them but it's not looking like a BvS or Spider-Man 3 level disaster & it's a self contained story that doesn't break the franchise unlike X3.

>>83223871
>Deadpool made more money than any movie in the history of the studio.

More money than Titanic?

>Fox are swimming in coke and hookers right now.

Yeah, that's not how making money works. Deadpool's profits paying off the losses from other movies doesn't leave the studio in profit, it leaves them eating shit. This is a film that has a break-even around $600m, and it's not looking like it's going to make that. For a big tentpole release, that's a disaster. It means that all the bonuses people were looking forward to after Deadpool are going to evaporate as that money is used to shore up the rest of the operation, and it puts a lot of extra pressure on Ice Age and Independence Day to not suck.

>>83226859
The reason it's usually left out is because ad spending varies wildly between different weeks according to who wants to advertise what. 1500 spots on 40 channels might cost you $5m on a quiet week, but closer to 10 the following week - it genuinely depends what you're bidding against, there is no fixed price option, though your budget is probably fixed unless you're really hot shit.

In fact it's probably another $80m here, which is not at all easy to "get it even", anon.

X-Men made 8 million on Thursday. Alice only did 1 million. X-Men will win the weekend, but not the war.

Both are money makers, but they'll probably kill each other by sharing the box office the same way 22 Jump Street and How to Train your dragon 2 had to.
>>
Anyone claiming that any of these capeshit movies are going to tank are in full blown denial. They sell off their names alone. The movies surpass their budgets by the time the verdict is in how good the movie actually is. Also a lot people ignore reviews out of fear for getting spoilers. Fuck someone who cares about reviews won't even get turned off by abysmal reviews when it's capeshit, they still fork over the cash. Making capeshit is like printing money.

>>
>>83227898
Wasn't good? It blows major balls in comparison to Days of Future Past. It feels nothing like a Bryan Singer X-Men movie. This script may as well just have been handed over to Brett Ratner.
>>
>>83227217
That's an assumption based on them having highly similar audiences (ie, people who want to go out on Thursday for previews) and releasing for previews in the same number of theaters. I honestly don't know whether they did or didn't, and I won't until next week.

Nobody's expecting DoFP numbers from this - it's coming in low overseas already - and it might well only make half what the previous movie made, which would be disastrous. But it's a weird weekend because of the holiday and nothing really does well on it.

Alice is also not expected to do as well as its predecessor, but the crucial difference there is that 50% of a billion is $500m, while 50% of $750m is $375m - what seems like a lesser fall is in fact the greater problem. Currently, the opening weekends overseas indicate a 50% fall for X-Men over the last gross - unadjusted and consistent across the major territories. If Alice wins out as #1 this weekend domestically, it won't necessarily have to do huge business, and internationally it's likely to make a lot of Depp Dollars in China, where he's huge apparently.

The interesting thing about the two is that because teenage and preteen girls idolize Jennifer Lawrence, despite the differences the movies are direct competitors for that audience, and it will be their preferences that decide who comes out on top.

Notably X-Men's Friday is projected to be just $20m, with another $8m from Thursday and the weekend as a whole on $78m, which is FOX's own projection for the whole four days (Fri-Mon, counting previews in Friday's take). This is possibly an optimistic assessment since last year's highest was way lower; it's likely the weekend will be owned by movies which are already out and have better word of mouth.

Audience liked ASM2 more in the same amount of time for 3 full weeks as opposed to opening day

Some critics say this is worse than or as bad as X3 and it's not.

It's not as bad as X3, but i'd say it's at the level of The Wolverine.
Kinda interesting at the beginning, but as the movie progresses to the 3rd act everything falls apart.

It's a good idea but I don't even remember if Apocalypse left any remains for someone to pick up.

But I'd be fine with that, As a Xman TASfag I was satisfied with Apocalypse in this movie (especially during the nuke scene)

All I'd want for Mr. Sinister is that he look as dumb as Mr Sinister usually does and unironically be referred as "Mister Sinister"

I thought it was kinda weird that they even bothered with a shot of New York during the destruction sequence with the WTC in the background as the Manhattan Bridge gets destroyed, and the Towers are just sitting there fine in the back of the shot.
