I don't WANT my characters to be a nazi, but if a writer comes in and has a story to tell where a characters gets temporarily turned into a nazi then I'm at least willing to give them a few issues to justify it before getting triggered.
Mastermen for example proved that a Nazi Superman story could be really interesting. I'd totally buy a Mastermen ongoing about Nazi Superman. Likewise, I'm willing to give Spencer an arc of HYDRA Cap before calling it shit. Superior Iron Man was fantastic and Superior Spider-man was at least a wild ride. Superior Captain America could be great too.

I don't think you understand how diamond sales figures work. Those numbers were artificially inflated by #1 speculation/collectors sales, loot crate bulk orders and ~50 incentive variant covers. The actual sales numbers are probably significantly lower.
Sales on a #1 issue, and even a #2 and #3 to a lesser extent, are all but meaningless because they don't reflect how many issues actually sold but rather how many issues LCSs ordered
