Why does /co/ hate this so much?
I don't know, but its just about the best X-Men has honestly ever been. Claremont is virtually unreadable, and the attempts at continuing his style of writing were flat as fuck.
Morrison actually giving mutants culture and making them modernized was a great idea. Why haven't runs since then even attempted at continuing his ideas?

Because Joe Quesada didn't understand the idea

Best X-Men run ever.
If only Morrison could have kept it going.
>>83207538
I love it, I also tear it to pieces in these X-threads all the time.
It is a very flawed run. It is also one of the best, most influential runs in comics. Period.
I will never forgive Morrison for his failure in Magneto's depiction. Ever.
But I would gladly thank him with humility for his efforts because he gave us the Cyke/Emma ship.
It's a historic X-Men run, it was always going to be controversial.
Igor Kordey
>>83207538
because it was bad
>>83207932
Christ.
>>83207538
I love the story, but hate the art. Enjoyed the fact that the Secret Wars mini replicated the style though.
I don't hate it, but I don't really get the love for it. Only the murder mystery arc did anything for me.
>>83207538
It works *well* as singular story. But it ruined x-men comics from that point on.
The literally based the story on "lets make it more like the movies"
>>83208053
It's not that much like the movie outside of the costumes and Magneto actually being evil
>>83207538
>>83207932
This is something I don't understand. This run is widely acclaimed and its art suffered during its publication due the deadlines. Why no hire the artist and make them redraw their shit before one of the thousands reprint?
>>83207538
Muh angry bacteria.
>>83208416
Nobody ever does that.
Seriously, outside of Burnham on Batman Inc and that once page of Invisibles, when does this ever happen?
>>83207538
Literally my favorite X-Men.
>>83208006
>hating Quietly
>>83208433
Why not though?
As much as I love New X-Men, it really did have some bad art at times. (Kordey will always be on my shit list for this and X-Treme X-Men)
I'm guessing no one wants to spend a dime more than they have to, right?
>>83207579
>Claremont is virtually unreadable
Acquire some taste, why won't you.
>>83207680
Y'know, I'm kinda nostalgic for my weekly dose of smug Joe Q cuntery.
>>83208494
Don't blame poor Igor, blame the X-Office.
>>83207538
It makes me wish Morrison did more Marvel stuff.
>>83207538
>Why does /co/ hate this so much?
Throws a lot of ideas at the wall. Some of those were great. Some of those were dumb as hell. His handeling of Magneto was probably the worst offender. He also really overdid it with the terrible mutations. We didn't really need human-centipede girl.
>>83208536
He's a morrisonfag, he is beyond salvation
>>83208593
I never have actually seen none rushed Igor, maybe he is okay, but I'll never forget just how bad the art was.
>>83207538
Marvelbabbies hate Morrison
>>83207680
>people should never like the X-men because then gays and blacks can't empathize with them
>>83208775
I don't know how good he is, but drawing an issue in a week is impressive http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2006/07/27/comic-book-urban-legends-revealed-61/
>>83208536
He's right though.
>>83208671
>not liking Morrison's magneto
>>83208784
>>83208827
>>83208843
stop samefagging
>>83208843
Morrison intentionally destroyed a decades old character just because he was butthurt over 9/11.
>>83207538
I don't. I love it. I even liked the part where Magneto got high AF and tried to reenact the holocaust in New York.
>>83208784
>Marvelbabbies (current higher-ups too) hate Morrison
ftfy
>>83208812
Kordey was screwed by Marvel in 2004, and after a brief stint at IDW, now makes BDs.
>>83207680
>There were several plans and hopes that I had when I took over as E-i-C, many of them immediate like fixing many of the key books.
>Out of all of these there are two major ones that have haunted me since day one. After House of M, there will only be one is left
He's talking about One More Day isn't he.
>So, one day you wake up and you got a mutant nation with over six million of mutants running around. Sure, we got rid of that, thank god, but mutants now were breeding so quickly that eventually they were going to be the majority on the planet. Okay, if that happens, you might as well stop publishing X-Men because it's not going to tell the kind of stories you want to tell. How will you be able to empathize with them when they're now the majority? Even if it's not true, they appear hat way on paper because they just show up everywhere. So, either that or redefine what the idea behind X-Men is, which I feel is a mistake when the actual original idea is perfect, or you try to put the genie back in the bottle.
Good Lord he's fucking INSUFFERABLE.
>>83207538
I thought /co/ still liked this, although it's not considered one of the better Morrison works.
>>83209584
Yeah, I think /co/ likes it.
I know a lot of tumblr people dislike it (U-men are often given as an example of Morrison's weirdness around transgender issues)
