As a kid I enjoyed the DiC cartoon,although MegaMan and Roll suffered from that 90's bullshit design,Wily,Light,Rush and all of the robot masters stayed pretty true.
Not to mention the fact that the sequences where he absorbs a robot masters power were pretty special as a kid.Playing the games I had always imagined it looking something like thatI stopped playing after X3 and focused on girls,sports,comics,and other shit.

Archie's comic suffered from trying to do the boss fights in the traditional manner one-after-another, which just meant they were getting killed every other panel which was just a slog to go through.Admittedly the first Mega Mix story by Ariga had that too, but he got better after that.On top of that, it took them forever to get Mega Man 3 going because they kept fooling around with other stuff like Quake Woman. Hell, the Sonic crossovers were probably the worst offenders in how they outright said "oops, you ran outta time mega man! Here's an unrelated crossover!"

I'm basing it on the fact that neither game mentioned wanted to follow the tired out trends of modern gaming. It didn't want to be another post-ironic meta pixel RPG with furries and tumblr agendas, and it didn't want to be another Call of Duty clone with shooting and brown. Even if neither game sold very much, they went against the grain and dared to celebrate what made old power ranger-like shows so good, and why people fondly remember them. Even if I don't like several things from W101, can you honestly say that it didn't try to bring back that feeling of watching an old episode of Power Rangers, but in a good way?
