First issues that are double sized always seem to throw of story times just a bit.
This from a really special period of DC comics I like to refer to as "proto-Vertigo".
Titles like:
>O'Neil Question
>Chaykin Blackhawk
>Grell Green Arrow
>Morrison Animal Man
>Ostrander Suicide Squad
Thanks for posting, HL. Storytiming can sometimes be a thankless endeavor but folks like you are what keep /co/,well, for comics.

Proto Vertigo has a different meaning in comics however.

more and more I think Post-Crisis DC was a high point. I should check out Chaykin Blackhawks

When Chaykin is on he is the one of the best

I'm kind of interested in Midnight of the Soul, the preview seemed interesting.

Oh shit, expand on that please. I was referring to the stuff DC put out in the late 80's with the "Recommended for Mature Readers" label, before Vertigo was even a thing. Is that term already in widespread use in regards to a different crop of titles?

Proto Vertigo is the name given to all the titles that were later branded with the Vertigo name when collections came out.
>>83171853
A lot of the positive associations and connections people draw to Vertigo are through books that were inspirations on Vertigo that were later spun into it.

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying. I'll start using "pre-Vertigo" or something like that to avoid confusion
appreciation bump

That is one bitchin' cover.

I loved this series, but it went to shit in the last 30 issues.
The sort of problem that comes with not knowing when to end a series.
Alas, thanks to OP for storytiming. The American Scream arc is one of my favourite non cape american comics.
As not to waste space and as a finale for the night
Happy Holidays I guess.
All done for now.
