Can somebody explain me how come that 20 something guys sometimes get soooo fucking into children shows to the point that they perceive those shows as being better and smarter than they actually are.

I mean stuff like MLP, Littlest Petshop or whatever, Zootopia, the Loud House, DC Super Heroe girls, etc.
>>
Why is there a picture of rule 63 Rosalina?
>>
>>83086440
Well, those shows are made by 20-60 people who love what they do and writte/animate what they like.

But overanalise sometimes is just the conventional autism.
>>
>>83086513

Not knowing about Little Prince, do gringos have no respect for culture??
>>
>>83086440
real talk sometimes cartoons actually are a little smart. if you deny that fact you probably arent a fan of cartoons in the first place

but your point is still very valid, over-analyzation and rabid fan wank are still common place with most mediums of entertainment, and perhaps it always will be.

I mean damn, just check out /tv/.
>>
Everyone likes to feel smart. Over analyzing simplistic shows that they can actually understand makes them feel better about not being able to get more nuanced shows for grown ups.
>>
>>83086779
haha like anime am i right
>>
>>83086823

Unless is JoJo, that shit is brilliant
>>
Maybe it's not some deep psychological condition and it's just a case of autism.
>>
>>83086440
People like op seem to forget that children's shows are still written by adults.
>>
>>83086875
You can't explain every intellectually callow trend with autism! It's not a cure-all. In fact it's usually the opposite.

For real though, did I miss something about JoJo? People are always talking about it like it's the best shit ever, but I read Phantom Blood and found it to be just okay (and fairly juvenile at that). Not saying it's shit or anything, I'm just wondering why people like it so much.

All-Star Battle is the shit though.
>>
>>83086936
i think the "autism" as the meme it is basically stands in for the "caring too much about something" disease.

In that sense i think its true that you dont need a psychological condition to decide to care too much about something that doesn't really matter or deserve the attention.
>>
>>83086991
First of all Jojo's been going on for like over 20 years so it has a sizable fanbase. Second of all, there's 8 parts all of which are different. You have to read past Part 1
>>
>>83086440
Because the industry refuses to make content that *isn't* geared towards children.
>>
>>83086991
The series gets better. Phantom Blood is generally considered to be the weakest part, since it cribs so heavily from trends of the time. Try Battle Tendency, see how that grabs you.
>>
>>83086991
real talk friend i was the same as you once.

i was rec'd jojo for ages and watched phantom blood, dropped it for a few years.

then i saw the rest and really got into it.

Im not going to guarantee that you'll love it if you decide to continue, but i will tell you in my opinion (and many others) that the first season is the weakest out of the anime.
>>
>>83086440

Why are you on /co/ if you think that adults aren't allowed to enjoy animation? It's like if you went onto /v/ and said that video games are for losers.
>>
>>83087034
>>83087074
>>83087092
Ah, so I read the weakest part of the series. Makes sense that I didn't like it in that case.
I'll read Battle Tendency tonight, see how I like it.
>>
>>83087141
It changes completely into its most popularly perceived form in Part Three, though.

Yes yes "it gets better later" and everything but this is a series that has been going on for literal actual decades.
>>
>>83087215
>literal actual decades
As opposed to figurative decades?
>>
>>83086991
>I read Phantom Blood and found it to be just okay (and fairly juvenile at that).

I disagree, the way the artist is telling that story is very compelling and different from most mangas.

Its just an interesting story without bullshit that doesn't waste any time. Like each chapter feels like you are actually reading or watching something worthwhile.

I love One Piece but fuuuucking shit, it takes like 10 episodes or manga chapters in order for something to happen.

I think that JoJo's is also succesful because it has western influences so they handle story telling, comedy and even character designs in a none generic way like most mangas.

A lot of great visual storytelling
>>
>>83087092
>the first season is the weakest out of the anime.

I don't understand how can people think this, to me that felt like I was reading a iconic manga on the making.

In the anime the passing was kind of weird, like, SPOILEEEEEERS I thought that Zeppeli was killed waaay too fast.

What I like about the first season is the focus on morals, pride and family that doesn't devolve into generic Shonen speeches.

To me JoJo's is a manga that should not be called manga, is beyond that, is Jojo's! Is its own thing!

>>83087124

How come that gringos suck at readinng comprehension so much?

Is not about liking cartoons, is about liking kids shows clearly aimed at children between 6 and 10.

Like I have this one ''friend'' that was all hype about the new Lion King cartoon despite clearly being a cartoon aimed at like 6 year old kids.
>>
>>83087525

How zootopia and loud house aimed at the littlest of babies?

MLP and Petshop are just toy commercials anyway.

>Like I have this one ''friend'' that was all hype about the new Lion King cartoon despite clearly being a cartoon aimed at like 6 year old kids.

You'd really not consider him you're friend anymore because he likes a cartoon? Goddamn, you sound like a gigantic fucking faggot.
>>
>>83087141
nigg you need to reach part 6 and 7, literal masterpieces
>>
>>83086440
the same reason why you are posting on 4chan and not out living your life.
>>
>>83086715
it's a shitty movie but great children's book
>>
It's because people that watch cartoons usually only watch that, the lack of higher culture input makes their OUTPUT lower. It's not hard to understand man.
>>
>>83086991
Watch Battle Tendency.
>>
>>83087656

No, its not my friend like at all, I just talk with him sometimes.

The guy is a huge cuck, over 30, has really long hair like a woman but it makes him look bad, doesn't know how to woman despite being over 30, the guy likes abouy ANYTHING that he watches or reads.

I bet you can relate.
>>
>>83086440
autism
>>
>>83086991
JoJo fags (ie tumblr) don't know any other anime / manga besides JoJo

Ask them what Fist of the North Star is and they won't know what you're talking about despite how important it was to JoJo's very fucking existence
>>
Not as bad as the spergs here who refuse to watch something just because it has

- A Hollywood celebrity in the cast
- a small potty joke
- a pop culture reference
>>
>>83086440
Probably disillusionment towards the television programs which are "intended" for them. Go watch a few sitcoms and try telling me that Zootopia doesn't have an intelligent line of though in it. Hell, there aren't even any good sitcoms anymore: Fresh Prince of Bel Air was mostly corny, but hit on some fairly major topics in its run. Most sitcoms now wouldn't even dare.

Also, some people are interested in animation. At least more interested in animation than they are bad acting from 30+ year olds pretending to be high schoolers. There aren't exactly many avenues to pursue an interesting in animation outside children's cartoons or foreign ones.

For more specific examples, it may depend on the specific person. Perhaps something sparks their interest for a particular reason which might not apply to other people.
>>
>>83091243
HnK? Isn't that the one where some guy goes around waiting for atrocities to occur before he gets involved for one series, and then spends the other series riding around on a rad horse and fighting knockoff DBZ villains?
>>
>>83091976

How about watching adult shows like House of Cards or Mad Men?
>>
>>83089099
Different Anon, and I agree but come on.
That hair, that scarf, those sheep on a tiny planet among cartoon stars?

It couldn't get more Little Prince if it was hand drawn by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry himself.
>>
>>83086440
I have no idea. I fell out of the horse fad after season 2, I'm looking back, and rewatching it some and it's fucking garbage and is totally a kids show. I remember all the shit people were saying 'Oh it's written like THIS' and "the characters are THAT" and blah blah blah but how fucking WRONG. I liked the porn, right, but for some reason I did get hooked onto the show and I can't figure out why, nonetheless looking back at how it just absolutely exploded, holy fuck, it's like I went through a warp hole or something. I kinda can't believe it. I mean I remember thinking it was cute and nice to look at but now I'm so utterly goddamn sick of it because of how oversatured it was. I alays hated the fans too, but I was still a part of the fanbase and kept my powerlevel all to myself but what a regret.
>>
>>83093061
>How about watching adult shows like House of Cards or Mad Men?
Primarily, the problem is that most such recommendations also include shows like CIS or Law & Order: shows which tend to be incredibly terrible, and so I'm not inclined to even consider the other recommendations.
>>
>>83093262
It's in a genre that's usually worse by miles, and there were promising bits that faded out sadly quickly. "Buzzards that really buzz" made me lose my shit, if only because it was so out of left field.
>>
>>83086715
>do gringos have no respect for culture?
>French

Glad that you ask

No
>>
>>83093262
that my friend is going where the crowd goes to

there's a term for it but i cant be bloodied to remember
>>
>>83093567
No I saw it on tv when it first aired by chance. I wasn't into it because of the crowd. Like I said it was nice to look at but I was into it before it blew up.
>>
>>83086991
Part 1 is garbage. I was the same as you. Loved part 2 and 3

Never read the rest though
>>
>>83086440
You can say the same thing about Game of Thrones, sports and politics and other soap operas. Just because it's meant to be for adults doesn't stop it from being badly written and badly acted. And just because something is aimed at children doesn't stop it from being good. Usually. You're just noticing the winners. Cartoons have gotten better in recent years as opposed to say, those Hannah-Barbara cartoons of the 60s/70s.
>>
>>83092784
i wish I could simply will you out of existence with my anger
>>
>>83086440
Is that Elsa?
>>
>>83093820
It is from an animated series based on the little prince.
>>
>>83086440
we spent our childhood in the 90s defending how mature and cool our interests were
now that cartoons are getting to be intelligent again after a decade of hiatus called the 00s, we're trying to help them get back up to 90s levels and maybe even better.

as for why we like that cool shit in the first place, it's fucking cool. we like violence and cuteness. it satisfies all our manly urges. to fight and hunt nasty things and protect and nurture cute small things
>>
>>83092784
If this weren't /co/ I would assume you're being ironic. If.
