I really liked Animal Man up until Morrison writes himself in as God. Buddy and his family are that real human element that I feel is missing from a lot of Grant's work, like Doom Patrol which is just weird on top of weird. It was entertaining at the start, then I got tired of it

I actually just finished reading the Grantman run, and I'm curious why someone would think this. I see his run as a very out there, but reverent take on bat mythos, not to mention a carefully plotted, well planned arc.
I wouldn't consider myself a full throttle Batman nor Morrison fanboy, but as someone who just likes good comic story telling, it's a pretty good 2,000 page read.
