Making the FF a movie is always going to miss the point.

You have the movie come out after Doctor Strange already introduces the MCU audience to real magic, not just alien tech that looks like magic.
Start the movie with prologue open, with Doom's mother in Latveria stealing a ancient relic from a monastery. An elderly abbot catchers her, and warns her that man is not meant to use such power. "To use that stone is to make a deal with the devil".
We meet a young Victor, then, who is introduced as a sweet and clever boy. He watches his mother try to free Latveria from oppressive rulers using the power of the relic, a strange looking amalgamation of stone and metal that she explains fell from the sky a long time ago, when a green comet was in the sky.
But the power of the relic proves to be too much. After blowing away just a few Latverian soldiers she loses control, and Victor watches his mother die a horrible death.
Roll opening credits, set to a montage of the cold war and the space race, introducing with clippets of rocket launch footage and radio broadcasts mentioning the revolutionary work of Reed Richards and Johnathan Storm, and their 'Fantastic Rockets'.
End the montage with them preparing on the morning of the launch of their third Rocket, Fantastic 3. It becomes clear that Reed is arrogant but brilliant, with a heavy dose of arrogance and being generally unwilling to admit he is wrong even on minor issues. Johnny Storm comes off as just as smart during his opening speech, but when asked a clarifying question by one of the reporters he dodges the question. Johnny Storm is little more than a figurehead, the charismatic face for the brains of the operation: his sister Sue, who no one is willing to hire to a position of her true value because its the 1960s. So Sue does the work, Johnny takes the credit, and everyone is (mostly) happy.

Face it: Fox has polluted the brand. The words 'Fantastic 4 reboot' do not excite anyone even if you add Marvel Studios' in front. Through individual re-introductions, audiences can relate to the characters on the personal level, get to know them emotionally, and learn to love them again. Marvel would be free from the pressure of a reboot, audiences would be free from the nausea of a reboot, and the characters would be free to be individuals instead of forced chariactures in the team concept. The culmination of a Fantastic 4 reunion becomes something people will actually be excited about.

The Fantastic 3 rocket blows up on launch, and during the media frenzy after Johnny gets caught off-guard and totally flubs his responses, revealed as an idiot while Reed comes off as an asshole. Due to the bad publicity, and investigation into the cause of the Fantastic 3 launch failure, the launch of the nearly completed Fantastic 4 rocket is 'delayed', which may very well mean 'canceled'. This sends Reed into an autistic rage, because the goal of the 4th rocket was to investigate a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' to study a unique green comet up close.
Meanwhile, Victor von Doom has been busy in the last few decades. He recovered the relic after his mother's death and has been studying it ever since. His workshop is a combination of modern science and ancient mythology and mysticism, merging the scientist's intellect with the magical legends that the relic is shrouded in. His goal is to give his mother's death meaning by completing her work: freeing Latveria from tyranny. He is convinced that she was right that the relic has the power to do so, but she was dangerously unprepared for what she was attempting. Papers from multiple scientists, including Richards and Storm, can be seen in his study.
Using knowledge gleamed from his magical lore, and build using modern technology, he has constructed a suit of armor that will protect him from the energies of the relic and allow him to control it. His plan is to take advantage of the re-emergence of the green comet to perform a ritual of his own design to siphon off some of the power of the relic and bring it under his control.
Reed refuses to let the Fantastic 4 mission be scrapped, and convinces the others to help him steal the rocket and go up personally to perform his experiments. They bring in Ben Grim, one of the astronauts trained for the mission, to actually pilot the craft.

During the Infinity wars, not part of the movies themselves but as a this is also happening during these events kind of thing.
Reed regular super genius scientist discovers an anomaly headed towards earth. If through scientific whatever discovers it's a ship or a fleet and alerts the government (This is Thanos heading to Earth by the way). Because of CW the government has a tenuous relationship the super hero community so they set up there own plans for interceding. Around this you pretty much have Infinity War however that's going to play out. And in the fall out the Gauntlet or the Stones get destroyed or explode letting out a huge amount of energy. When this Happens Reed and the rest are in space putting together something that is supposed to help with the fight when they are hit with this blast. It changes them into the Fantastic Four we know and love. My thinking is the power gem changes Bed the space gem changes Reed, the reality gem changes Sue...I don't know about Johnny Make some shit up I don't know.
But basically the end of Infinity Wars is just the beginning of their story.

Also Carol could be apart of the team as well and she could get her powers the same way as some kind of absorbing multiple gem energies. Maybe her and Ben worked together before he went to work with Reed and they needed an official military presence to go into space.
Hydra is basically Nazis that never went away.
So in the 80s, Hydra was taking Latveria.
Victor sees people getting executed in the street and his mother dies to give him a chance to escape.
Victor is a refugee from the war. The first act is Victor meeting the already powered up Fantastic 4 in his late teens. They're best friends untill Reed takes credit for Victors work. He has a falling out with Reed and he travels the world to find new purpose. and then we do this page.
And then the second and third act are Doctor Doom organizing a Coup d'état against the Hydra government and making himself the president of Latveria.
I'd probably add some psychedelic "seeing the truth of the universe" scene when he melts his face into the mask. Like when Paul Atredies drinks the Water of Life.

So its ends up with Reed and the rest in space, performing their experiments on the effects of the comet and gathering data, at the same time that Victor is in Latveria performing his ritual. Something goes wrong on both ends, and the rocket, the comet, and victory all just vanish.
Timeskip to 2017, and they all re-appear. The comet is right where is was before, but the pod for the Fantastic Rocket and its occupants materializes in the middle of the wilderness of Sokovia, the modern name of the region that was previously known as Latveria.
So they have a big expensive looking crash sequence, changes by the experience and coming to grips with their now physiology and powers. Meanwhile, Doom wakes up in space. Confused, panicked, unable to breath, his first act upon gaining his incredible powers is to desperately fly back to Earth, a landing which he (barely) survives.
Reed and co get picked up by Ross's group and, after they get their story, begrudgingly bringing them back to the USA. Reed and his group are simultaneously amazing by modern technology and horrifies that it isn't the bright, shiny future that they they were promised by the jetsons. They try to integrate back into society, with some adapting better than others. Sue, at least, finds it refreshing that she doesn't have to hide behind a man anymore to be taken seriously, and Johnny at first is scared of his powers and accidently hurting others, but slowly begins to accept them. Basically, give him Ben Grimm's usual storyline in these movies for a change of pace. Have Ben be sort of embarrassed about all the attention he is getting, but end up as sort of the mascot of the team that everyone wants on their talkshows for some reason. Play it for comedy.
Meanwhile, Reed becomes increasingly convinced that the reason the future sucks is because he wasn't there to make it awesome. After all, is it any wonder that things turned out so bad with REED RICHARDS away from the helm?

A group of scientists head up into space to begin planning on the S.W.O.R.D station when some cosmic energy strikes their shuttle, bringing it back down to the earth and crashing
When they wake up they begin noticing strange things, Reeds height keeps changing, Sue keeps disappearing, Jonnys temperature is in constant flux and Ben keeps breaking things
Eventually something goes wrong and an explosion in the sky causes debris to fall on new york, striking only the Baxter building, the adrenaline rush pushes the four into an adrenaline rush, causing their powers to fully manifest, Reed stretches out to Sue from across the room to get her away from the window as it shatters, Sue makes a forcefield to stop glass hitting them, Jonny falls through the floor and flies to safety and Ben puts his arms up to protect himself from the shrapnel and is bounces off him
When it all calms down shield comes in and collects the 4 for a talk on their new powers and how the sokovia accords will affect them and how they operate, should they pursue a career in superhero acts, they ensure him they wont while Jonny gets angry at the group, telling them theyre denying him a fun life, hiding him away
Back up in space, the cosmic energy that struck the ship spikes up again to open a rift in space, a small bug comes out of the rift, followed by a slow growing hum before cutting to black
The group arrive back to the tower and begin working on a way to remove their powers and return to work as space scientists, while studying the space where the incident happened reed discovers that the energy that hit the ship has spiked massively and is growing in size, he decides to take a small aircraft into the atmosphere to get better readings.

As he arrives in the atmosphere the small bug we saw flies past the window, thinking nothing of it he ignores it and continues to study the energy pocket, it suddenly spikes and a large green flash is seen as thousands of bugs pour out and approach the earth, destroying satelites and reeds ship on the way, reed uses his new powers to get back to earth safely and warns the others of what he has seen and suggests that they phone shield to deal with it. Jonny says no and flies off to fight them, sue says that they have to do something to help and gets ben to join her, reed tells them they have a way of getting up there, the fantasticar, the 4 leave the building and head towards the large swarm as it slowly gets closer to the NY skyline, using their powers they stop the wave, just as they begin to relax on the rooftop of a building the buzzing gets louder and a large green monster decends ahead of another swarm, Anhillus announces himself the new owner of the world and that nothing can stop his swarm. The 4 begin a huge fight and just as all seems lost Anhillus realises that he cannot control the swarm and due to their mindlessness and lack of aim are easily picked off by the smart thinking teamwork of the 4. The thing finishes by jumping towards Anhillus and punching him back into the atmosphere being caught by Reed and sue.
The film ends with the 4 using their powers to build the Sword station alongside a large team of engineers, Fury turns to reed and says he's glad they changed their minds and that the station is top priority due to the growing number of extra terestrial attacks.
Post credits scene is Anhillus talking with Thanos, telling him to stop while he can and that earth is too much to deal with, The film fades out to a huge space fleet and Thanos laughing

Doom returns to Latveria with great plans for how he is finally going to free his people, only to find that Latveria no longer exists. The oppressive regime that he was going to throw down was already conquered by the soviet union, and then lapsed, in his absence. Sokovia is a failed state, but there is no evil authority for him to overthrow. His entire plan is just sort of irrelevant now, his life wasted. He didn't save his people.
He sees the story of the Fantastic 4 on the news, puts 2 and 2 together, and realizes that their situations are linked. They each gained a fraction of the power that was intended for him, and threw off the ritual, because victory based the equipment he was using for his ritual on the same theories about the space anomaly and equipment for studying it that Reed was using.
So Victor seeks out Reed and convinces him that they don't belong int he future. They both have work that needs to be done in the past, THEY HAVE TO GO BACK. And, for a while, they work together towards that goal. They only have until the comet is out of range to complete their work, though. It will be hundreds of years before it comes back. For her part, Sue isn't sure she even wants to go back. Doom displays an intense admiration and affection for Sue after he realizes that she was the mind behind work he had been attributing to Johnny.
They fail, losing any chance to go back to the past, and both men blame the other. Reed refuses to take responsibility for anything, and Doom lashes out at him in a rage. This leads into an extended throwdown, which ends with Doom only being driven of by the combined effort of the 4.
Doom retreats, deciding he has bigger fish to fry. If he can't go back and save Latveria, Sokovia will have to do. He has a debt. The movie ends with Doom singlehandedly taking over Sokovia, declaring it Latveria again, and promising to bring to it the prosperity and salvation that is a long time coming.

I mean, you could probably make Reed & Sue work well enough, but Ben and Johnny? If you go with a prosthetic suit for Ben, it's still going to be fucking expensive and Johnny is literally on fire all the time.
Although honestly if budget wasn't an issue, they would actually make for a bretty good tv concept.
F4 are already established and working out of the Baxter Building and is post Sokovia Accords. Ross shows up with his Thunderbolts to demand the F4 sign on and work under his thumb. F4 tells Ross to go fuck him self. Thunderbolts are sent after them. Reed and Sue send Valeria and Franklin to safety in Latveria. F4 is captured by the thunderbolts. Ross uses AIM to use F4 equipment to create a new Super Prison in the N Zone. The F4 are imprisoned there along with other supers that don't want to play ball. Doom, Valeria, and Franklin break them out and the other supers.

My idea was that they got blasted into space to investigate an anomaly during the early 90s as part of a joint American/Latverian space...thing.
The project got sabotaged by Victor Von Doom, they wound up getting disappeared and assumed dead, but then they reappear in the present day MCUverse when their space pod thingy drops out of the sky in New York and Johnny saves them from crashing.

>Back in the early 80s, Hank Pym and S.H.I.E.L.D are working with. Young group of scientists who want to experiment with space travel. The group eventually gets shot out into space and for some unknown reason, they vanish. Fast forward to present day and right where they disappeared, they reappear slightly mutated, but alive. They explain that they were working on a very early warp drive which must have sent them through time rather than space, and due to the amount of radiation they were subjected to between the folds of space, they get their powers.
It would be really interesting seeing a young Pym in the beginning, and having old Pym in present day being reunited with his old science friends

More solid than most MCU storylines and they've worked out fine. Definitely more rounded than the last two attempts. Ties them in perfectly as both alreadyestablushed im the world yet explains why theyre only appearing now, gives another nice chunk of chronology to the MCU timeline and subverts some of the common storylines/character arcs we've seen.
Only qualm is its obvious OP is a Doomfag. Don't kick the fantastic 4 off with doom's origin, or at least interlace more from the start like First Class did.

I wrote that bit, and I'm not actually OP.
I just had the prologue be with Doom and his mom because its the earliest part of the plot, timeline wise. Otherwise you have to do it in flashback, which is weak, and you need a different hook for an opening scene.
It just works really well as an opening sequence, and sets the tone for the rest of the movie: noble goals that are nevertheless ruined by the hubris of people who thought they were smarter than they really were.

They are introduced in the Spider-Man movie, working for Oscorp.
Reed, Sue and Doom are scientists, Johnny and Ben work as testpilots Johnny testing the "vulture" armor, Ben a Quinjet replacement/spaceplane planning on being sold to the US government.
The dynamic goes: Reed and Sue flirt, Sue and Doom flirt, Reed belittles Doom, Ben and Johnny joke around and bellitle both Reed and Doom behind their respective backs, getting on with both Reed AND Doom.
In the post credits scene of Spiderman they are in the boardroom with a twitchy Osborne for a kind of yearly "project suggestion meeting". Doom suggests looking into the possibilities of "Magic" and certain quantum phenomina, Reed belittle him, Johnny cracks jokes, everyone laughs including Osborne who then spins round and instantly fires both Doom AND Johnny for "speaking out of line" (using his "goblin" voice) . As security removes the increasingly furious Doom and the nonchalant Johnny, Reed suggest Time Travel, Osborne okays it and Doom goes apoplectic.
In their movie Reed is working on a time machine, Doom sabotages it. The four get sent to the future and get powers and Doom gets sent to the past, just after the Soklovia iaccords. Doom is legally Soklovian though he constantly talks about the criminal Soklovian annexation of Latveria during his childhood.
Doom takes over one of Ultrons old bases and then the land that used to be Latveria. Then the world.
The 4 then arrive in the "future" that is Doomworld, and spend the movie fighting to defeat doom and rebuild their time machine. They cant stop the disaster because "paradox" but they can go back to just after Doom establishes control over "Latveria" and defeat his plan for world domination via Doombots.
They then sign the Soklovia accords, and get officially sponsored by the UN.
In the postcredits scene, the captured Doom turns out to be a Doombot, and Zemo awakes to find Doom in his cell on the raft, offering him a deal.

Reed Richards is a genius inventor. His best friend is a man named Ben Grimm who he went to college with. Reed's girlfriend is a girl named Susan Storm who was a childhood friend he reconnected with. She has a younger brother named Johnny who is kind of a prankster/troublemaker but has a good heart. Reed is doing research on the physical properties of matter in space when exposed to a mysterious cosmic energy. Reed then decides to explore these properties on a space trip. He initiates the first privately funded non-government space exploration mission. His the three others accompany him on the mission. In space, there's an accident and the four of them are bombarded with cosmic rays when the shielding fails. They crash land but survive and discover they have powers. We pan to a foreign advanced civilization called Latveria where it's dictator watches a screen surrounded by robotic duplicates of himself. He watches the news of the survival of the four. He walks away from the screen muttering "Curse you Richards." Victor von Doom than narrates a quick flashback of how his face is scarred during a college experiment and how he blames Richards for that and the destruction of the machine that would allow him to access the dimension where his dead Gypsy mother may be. He sabotaged the space ship, but instead of killing them the cosmic rays gave the four powers. Doom then travels to New York to finish what he started. He has advanced armor and knowledge of the mystic arts that empower him on unimaginable level. He sends his Doombots to attack the four who have quickly gained notoriety and saved people on various occasions. Reed then deduces that this attack was perpetrated by Doom. He then informs government officials who contact the UN security council who inform him that they can't act or it will spark an international incident between the US and Latveria.

Doom continues to to act through proxies. The FF then have enough and decide to secretly invade the Latverian embassy and expose the various war crimes he's perpetrated. He catches them and a fight ensues. It becomes a big fight in the city and the FF struggle to fight Doom and his robots and save innocents. Ultimately, Doom is exposed through a robotic interface called H.E.R.B.I.E. that Reed installed in Doom's mainframe. His true nature revealed and the military on its way to take out the embassy and threatening action on Latverian soil, Doom retreats. The public then praises the FF for their bravery and heroism. Meanwhile Doom plots his revenge.

Richards gets famous after he gets powers. Until then he's just an academic researcher/inventor who has more papers published than anyone else in the world or whatever you want him to be doing besides Sue.
Out-of-time stories either revolve around it, or ignore it, and both would be idiotic to put in a movie just to cover for something that doesn't need covering.

Also, Stephen Strange was just a really good surgeon, he's been irrelevant. Reed's a groundbreaking scientist, if he was in the MCU, SHIELD would have probably recruited him by now, or at least worked with him. He's like Hank Pym. He may not have been famous, but he wouldn't be nobody either, that's just not how movies work.

Its because a big part of the Fantastic 4's backstory is tied to kennedy era space race optimism. Its why the recent grimdark adaptation felt so wrong, it was the exact opposite of what the Fantastic 4 is about.
The fantastic 4's origin story, told today, would require you to basically reinvent NASA just to create the opportunity.
The further we remove their origins from that sort of pulp science start, that era and its mentality, the more we have to chance the characters or have them be jarring and anachronistic. Finding a way to have them actually be from the past gives us the best of both worlds there.

We'd have heard more of a spaceship that exploded than a guy working on an University and building secret shit on his garage-warehouse. It's a shitty limiting idea, and you'd force yourself into a scene where either he catches up to the last whatever years have passed in technology, and having Sue catch up to the world of fashion and missing pop-culture references.
Sue and Reed are at the vanguard of their fields, but they don't have to be more famous than any other celebrity roaming around their universe which are never mentioned because they have no bearing on the story.
