Mahvel 3 coming out like it did was a miracle. From what I've read, it wouldn't have ANY X-Men if it wasn;t for Capcom coming up with the Dark Phoenix gimmick and convince Marvel to let them use more of them, as well as having to fight for Sentinel and MODOK I believe.
Ultimate came out so fast because of a combination of Marvel being stingy (they had until a certain time to do more content) mother nature having a fit and Capcom management being retarded (they rushed out the game to not have it compete with SFxT)
And despite all that, it's still a great ass game with a great ass cast.
