So, I was just thinking... Iron Man supposedly designed this suit without Peter's input, but it doesn't look like anything else he's ever designed, or even much like Peter's first costume.
What do you think something closer to the other Iron Man suits would have looked like?

I like it but the three legs thing always irked me
I've never understood why Spider Man, of all people, would need or want a powersuit. It seems completely contrary to his fighting style.

How do we know that? Peter was already wearing a homemade suit that had similar colors. Wouldn't be out of character for Peter to have sketched out an "ideal" spider suit and Tony might have just gone off of that.

Sure, if by dumber you mean totally kickass and fitting. Plus it actually played a role in the plot. Iirc Peter found out that Tony was using it to spy on him and that played a big role in Peter defecting to Cap's side.

Yeah, and Tony gave him the push further to defect by shutting the suit down and locking him into place so people could beat the shit out of him, leading to one of the iconic panels of the entire event.

I don't think it was entirely designed without Peter's input. We get a glimpse of his original red/blue costume, Peter shows Tony his webshooters and explains that he needs lenses to focus.
You realize that all the gadgets/outfits the Avengers had in AoU were also designed by Tony, right?
Not everything he designs is a power suit
