Can't think of anything quite like Fantastic Planet, but there are some films with some good surreal imagery sorta like it has. The Congress comes to mind. Warning though: the first part of it is in live action. When I first watched it I wasn't sure I had the right movie because it took a while to get to the animated part.

But just imagine it. Up till now you've just been some draag child playing with your om and playing fantastic console 64 or whatever, just having fun watching fantasticmon. You've been training to meditate, and it's fun, you just fly around in a bubble. Then the day comes when everyone has to float to the fantastic planet, and you don't think much of it, it's just like any other tests. So you get there, and land on a creepy naked body, and so do your classmates. And you wait a while, not knowing exactly what's going on. And then these other orbs you've never seen show up and place themselves on the other body next to you. And before you know it, it's like the body IS you. And suddenly this stranger grabs you and starts fucking you, and you look around and all your other classmates are getting fucked too. Nobody told you about this, you were not prepared, you thought you'd just float around again, and here you are taking this stranger aliens cock up the vagoo, or some boys are unfortunate enough to have landed in female bodies. It is an utterly traumatic mass rape of children, you end up soaked in statue cum and faint, your bubble floating back to your home planet, where you wake up with a sore ass and in a pile with the other children and all the adults in s circle clapping and going "congratulations!"

No wonder all the draag are fucking sociopaths.

Nah that's fair. The only reason to watch is because of how creative and weird and pretty looking it is. I still really like the movie but yeah.
>>
>>83041755The story may seem very literal and simple, but it's actuslly one big allegory for the bolshevik treatment of the Slavic peoples. The director and many of the animators were eastern Europeans running from that oppression and the whole film is basically an allegory of that and other similar ethnic oppressions at the time.

It's not 100% stopmotion. The girl that plays Alice is a regular liveaction actress. But I think every other character is done with stopmotion or puppetry.

It's also not a typical Alice in Wonderland adaptation. It's technically taken from the story, but it's much darker than usual interpretations.

Anyone else disappointed that this shitshow never came out?

No. Psychedelic stuff only works in hand-drawn and if it was successful it'd only show studios even more that people only like 3D animation now.

They have souls. That's part of the whole mystery of the fantastic planet. They astrally project there to have soul sex.

From what I saw of the concepts and early work it looked like a huge flop. Also, considering how much people love the beatles, if it was a fuck up it would get slammed for portraying them/something of theirs in a negative way.

Although you're probably right, better not to take any chances. Though imagine if it was actually good instead of just well received or something, and it caused an influx of psychedelic cgi that was also good.

Mostly I'd say shitty translation. Language is more than just the new words, there's a logic and a rhythm and a way to define and grasp the world, and it's different for each one, the nuances but also the very system of communicating. So if someone just translates the words, you get very stiff, unnatural phrases, because it's foreign speech just painted with the words of the new language - but the core structure of thought and logic is still of the original language.

A good translator needs to deeply understand the nuances of both languages, it's hard.

anon. the conversation started with someone saying that something they were watching became less surrea because it was whimsical. this is not a problem of sobriety, it could be an issue of the story not maintaining the person's interest. another anon suggested doing drugs while watching it, which is fine. then another anon replied with the false assumption that the anon they were replying to had to do drugs to be entertained, which was false and a strawman. sometimes things are boring in their own right.

stop acting like a puritan teetotaler. like you've never done drugs like caffeine before or something? college students do adderall to pay attention. stop assuming shit.
