You're confusing Star Wars with Star Trek.
Star Wars has more schizo-tech, where a guy firing a coil gun rides on the back of a wild animal, and fights with a guy who fixes the FTL of his ship by hitting it a couple of times with a spamnner, and they all cower before a guy who is half cyborg but uses a sword and magic.
In Star Wars technology only exists to give the veneer or science fiction, but at the end of the day, it doesn't really make peoples' lives that much more convenient.

God damn most of those outfits look really cheap and crappy, but then most weren't on-screen for more than a few seconds. That could be why, though a lot of their aliens looked rather shitty too. Like what they did to Embo's species. And the Ackbar head was far less sophisticated than the animatronic Mon Cal head they made for Episode III and didn't end up using.

Also the Chancellor didn't care about the FO as long as they obeyed the Galactic Concordance? The first of which is why is the Empire on Lothal, and why are the rebels?
Lothal is an outer rim agriworld with no apparent strategic purpose beyond a Sienar Fleet Systems factory. An empire needs foodstuffs, so why exactly are they depriving its populace of their livelihoods? Why has the empire banned civilian prospecting and mining on the system? I'm pretty sure that other outer rim worlds don't have the same restrictions. Why is there such a disproportionately high amount of security on what is an ostensibly backwater planet?
Why is there a Jedi Temple on the planet?
And why would the rebels send a small cell to operate on a backwater when there are more likely and more important targets?Is the planet being used as an important resource for the construction of the Death Star?Is it our titular rebel's intel which gives the alliance the rogue's ability to find and retrieve the death star plans?

You can use WinCDEmu

Installing this will let you open ISO's.
It emulates the ISO as a real disc, allowing you to open it like a regular CD.
So when WinCDEmu is installed, all you have to do is double click on the downloaded ISO's, it should be 3 if it's the same one I got.
So starting with 1, let that go through it's progress, it is then going to ask for nr 2, just double click on the second ISO, prompt the installer to which letter the new ISO got assigned, and then do the same for nr 3.
Then you follow the installation guide for SWGEmu.

While I'm looking forwards to whatever the new EU is going to be like, this sounds like a rough start. I haven't read any of the new EU, and am thinking about at least finishing the Ventress book because Bald Space Waifu (although the writing in that one threw me off when I read the preview).

Lords of the Sith, Tarkin, Lost Stars, and Bloodline are all solid
but Aftermath is terrible, and its not because of the gay character, its because of the author. the writing style is awful. it reads like a first draft.
but I'm still worried about the new EU. they are missing that landmark book or book series. there's no Thrawn Trilogy or X-Wing book series yet.

Now that you mention it, I think that what you said about the canon lacking landmark works is an important point.
I think that the canon has a lot of solid works with the hits outnumbering the misses by a satisfactory margin. But whenever I find myself trying to sell people on getting into the canon beyond the films, the conversation always seems to include a lot of "If you like ... read ..." as opposed to straightforward, unconditional recommendations.
