Honestly a lot of the critique inherent in Caliborn's character and narrative role - whether directed by Hussie at himself, at older readers, at new readers or the "anti-fandom" - comes off as very naive. The things he uses Caliborn to criticise are often fine, while at other times it's painfully obvious Caliborn is just like Hussie himself and he doesn't realise it.
That said, Hussie sort of became his own Yaldabaoth by allowing the void to erode his will. Hussie started off as Eru Illavatar- I mean the Monad! Yes, the Monad, and then he lost all sense of priority and just let the comic fall to shit.

I know Act 5 brought in tumblr and the trolls, and a lot of people say it marks the beginning of the end
Act 5 doesn't. Act 5 has shipping jokes but it's mostly an examination of how Sburb can go completely batfuck with a group of people who aren't mentally balanced.
It's a complete horror show and it's great. Act 5 Vriska is unironically one of my favorite characters, and Eridan going nutso was fantastic.

To be fair, whilst Karkat trying to go around Terezi's back to Dave and striking a deal out of desperation is pretty damn pathetic and creepy, it does have root in the reality of the situation. By this I mean, where Karkat's big issue is self-hatred expressing itself as over the top reactions to everything; Terezi struggles to be forthcoming with her actual emotions or motivations with things, instead hiding behind her whole cackling weirdo stick. It's a facet of her personality that is never really delved into, yet is arguably her biggest cause for problems right after Vriska.

Kind of sad to think our true original John died a long time ago, and then got erased from existence. The boy we see at the start of the comic was doomed all along to let some doppelganger pick up where he was forced to leave off. I still don't know why Godtiering doesn't combine your dreamself and realself, it'd explain the flying at least, and be some nice parallel of bringing together all of yourself into a divine ideal whole.

Hussie: Dead characters have a funny way of sticking around in Homestuck. It’s a story with a very big cast. In a big cast not everyone can be a major character or enjoy the spotlight for too long. All stories with huge casts have certain means of letting minor characters recede into the background after they stop being relevant. In HS, death seems to be the line between relevance and irrelevance, more than anything else. Some ghosts then struggle to stay relevant in the story, but usually fail.
That’s one answer, which may or may not be satisfying to you. There’s another answer that is more practical. HS is supposedly a story that is also a game. In games, the characters die all the time. How many times did you let Mario fall in the pit before he saved the princess? Who weeps for these Marios. In games your characters die, but you keep trying and trying and rebooting and resetting until finally they make it. When you play a game this process is all very impersonal. Once you finally win, when all is said and done those deaths didn’t “count”, only the linear path of the final victorious version of the character is considered “real”. Mario never actually died, did he? Except the omniscient player knows better. HS seems to combine all the meaningless deaths of a trial-and-error game journey with the way death is treated dramatically in other media, where unlike our oblivious Mario, the characters are aware and afraid of the many deaths they must experience before finally winning the game.

I think it's wrong to look at a dreamself as a totally separate person from the waking self, considering how all of them except for Jade are exactly the same in term of memory and soul, and how Dirk is capable of switching so freely between controlling his dreamself and his waking self. It's more like the dreamself is a splinter of you, and when one of these two selves dies the splinter breaks off as its own separate ghost, but before that you're not really all that separate.
