I feel it started to sink after all the Alpha Kids entered the game. Like, we get it, Void session is unbeatable, they tried 4 months and got nothing. Jake even pointed out the monsters were strong as hell, but barely wielded grist, but still...
I feel they became caught up on too much drama. Like, they were there for 4 whole months. Wouldn't by that time they already have dealt with all that shit?
Also, on the Betas and Trolls side, would it kill someone to have them meet each other in the dream bubbles? Or for the dead to meet the living to reconcile or something like that?
Hell, we could have get more participation for some characters at least? Jane and Jake did barely anything from the Void session all the way to Collide. Maybe some interaction, them talking to each other sorting their shit?
It's not as if any of these things could have been hard to implement or would be difficult. If he can make 3 Earthbound-like minigames, he could have spared a few pages into that. It's not as if it was impossible.

I've always held that the dream bubbles were the beginning of the end. Homestuck was already starting to show some bloat with alternate timeline selves and whatnot, but the dream bubbles magnified the problem hugely. Not only do those alternate selves pile up, but they can't even get pruned off by dying.
Plus the whole thing about making death not have an impact, of course.

I figure you issue general orders and commands, almost like a weird exile-style deal, to influence events, allocate resources that are gained, and make sure people get sent to the right places at the right time, while dealing with random events. Keep it zoomed out to the Medium-level view so all you see is the Lands, maybe with zoomed in screens for stuff like the Queens being talked to.
You could easily package in more assets or variant sessions, like a dead session or extreme difficulties like a Bec Noir event, as DLC shit.

Alchemy will be relatively easy to implement: Create item attributes with associated grist cost (Gives off light +2 marble, 5% chance to instant kill +100,000 shale, etc.) and/or visual descriptors.
Add attributes for each item. Alchemy just combines attributes and grist costs, and generates descriptions Dwarf Fortress style.
Giving all 144 roles enough abilities might be doable if I generate them the same way (by associating "attack types" and debuffs for example).
Making enough dungeon types to reflect lands would be a lot of work though. But I can see it working.

I came up with the idea while thinking of how to implement a Thief of Light's skills. Like, they should be able to steal things that are associated with light so if you have like, a light saber, you give it 80 Light Points to increase the chance of stealing it or whatever. I admit it's kind of a novelty idea, though.
I wouldn't have decided the scores myself, I would have used a database of word associations to generate them for me.

Start with giving all aspects baseline abilities. e.g. Void players get blink, Breath player get John's Tornado dash, Light players get a free light source.
From there on treat each classpect as an individual 'class'. Sure, it would take a lot of time to put them all together. But I'd rather have a small set of classpects that are interesting than having 144 that play basically the same.

It's not just damage type though. Lemme give you an example using skills. A lot of classpects can use teleportation, right? But it makes the most sense for space players. So you have a teleport skill, and you give it affinities like 100 Space, 50 Void, 20 breath, etc. Then players of the Space aspect don't just have the highest chance of learning Teleport, but they have a high chance of learning it earlier than other players, too.
If you want to go the extra mile, you can also pile classes on, too. So maybe you give Teleport high Rogue, Thief, Witch, and Mage scores too.
The whole point is to create an environment that encourages emergent complexity. If you try to define those interactions by hand, you either end up with something extremely simplified or something unfinished. By defining a simple set of features that you can apply to every game object, you create the illusion of complexity, and without at least the illusion of complexity, SBURB isn't SBURB.
