Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme is arguably the best comic Marvel has ever put out. I think at this point the Squadron have had enough great stories over their nearly 50 years of existence that they're really more than just "DC pastiche."
I mean, they're certainly that too, but they could make an adaptation of Gruenwald's SS without ever dipping into any jabs at DC purely on the back of the original story.
