Spectacular Spider-Man vol.2 #14

A handicapped guy relaxing on a roof gets menaced by Morlun and Spider-Man swings in to save him. They have a little heart-to-heart. It's sappy but I love it.

Can I say nearly everything from Silver to Bronze Age? Seriously it's amazing how nearly 30 years of Spidey's run was damn fucking good with no real bad parts. And than 90's hit him hard. Funny I really should hate Maximum Carnage since it's almost as 90's as you can get but it's a damn fun run.

For Villain: Venom when he's being all yandere.

I guess that'd be a Death in the Family, because that's the story that got me into comics.

It's a tie between Stornin' Norman and Venom.

90's was where everything went wrong. With Clone Saga being one of the most annoying piece of shit.

It's actually a fairly personal reason why he's my favorite. I was 8 when Spider-Man 2 came out, and my parents got me the movie tie-in PC game. The second mission is when Rhino breaks out of jail & you have to fight him, and for some reason I was absolutely terrified to fight him. I wouldn't even get near him, instead just swinging around the rest of the city looking for another option. For years I never got past that part of the game, and so Rhino always stuck with me as the most fearsome villain.

60's are pretty fun but like all 60's Marvel comics it's mostly text that drive the story. Lee love over explaining things. If you are going to read anything from the Ditko era "If This Be My Destiny" is one of the best comic stories of that era. Also "Spider-Man No More!" is liked by many as the best of Spidey quitting. 70's is when things really got good with lots of multicomic arcs. Issue 100 is when the "Six Arm Saga" happened and it's a thrill ride after that. 90's can be mostly skippable. "Maximum Carnage" is really the least shitty story but to many it's basically a 90's story where they tried to make it "mature" by just being gory. JMS run is great and honestly if you don't really care to go back that far it's really a good starting point. OMD is the last of his story and to many really the end of Spidey. Slott took over and there was some nice runs but to a lot of people Marvel salted the Spidey Earth and not even a great storyline can really save him.

Norman Osborn, so much so he's my favorite villain of all time. Dude is a bastard and takes pride in it. I also love villains with irrational grudges with the hero that absolutely compel them to screw with the hero no matter the situation. On a smaller scale, you can never go wrong with Shocker or Mysterio.

Grim Hunt, a follow up to Gauntlet
>>
Really obvious choice but I think my fave Spidey story is The Night Gwen Stacy Died. I also really like the Hobgoblin storyline, the first appearance of Carnage and Ultimate Spider-Man.

I have very fond memories for the Spectacular Spider-Man run with the Citizen Osborn storyline which basically just had Norman going all out to fuck with Peters life. The identity crisis story that it eventually lead to was kinda silly but these were the Spider-Man comics I read growing up so nostalgia helps me overlook the flaws. I really wish they would release some trades or an omnibus of that run.

I may be in the minority but I actually hate JMS run because he added all the stupid magical elements with Ezekiel and what not. To me that's just not what Spider-Man is supposed to be about.

As for favourite villain... I want to say Mysterio but thinking about it, it's probably Green Goblin
