I'm kind of glad that Savino didn't go with the original pitch of having the Loud family as rabbits. It was a neat idea but looking at the character designs now I don't think they would've been able to pull off the personalities as well as with the human designs. And the show would get a lot of shitty furry fanart too.

I wanted to do a funny animal, since I had just come off a human-based show at Disney (“Kick Buttowski”). And it was Jenna who suggested that they be human. She felt my chances would be better to get it sold. And she was right. We adjusted the number of sisters down from 25 to 10, and everything started falling into place.

I was thinking something closer to Lucy's look - where the hair is parted but is still long in front - but friendlier, if that makes sense.
I think that it would require a visible part if it were side-parted and completely straight (e.g., Sprout's host-lady Nina) to distinguish it from Lucy.
That aside, I like all of the designs. The first looks a bit too Lynnish for my tastes, but it's still good.

A little more fluid now. I should mention that I've never bothered animating anything ever outside of five small things that were no longer than six frames. Of course I'm using a reference this time, so that makes things a lot easier. Squash and stretch is real subtle, so you have to be willing to stretch the legs and the torso if you want that snap and that energy. Thankfully, for all animation it's a lot more manageable when you draw the most important frames and then the ones inbetween those and then the ones inbetween those and so on.

It came from being unable to sleep and needing something to do. Plus I know once this is finished it'll be used in the Loud House threads for ages.
It's just that I'm still new is why it's taking so long, so when I do an individual drawing and I have to stretch things out to get the arcs to match with the animation I'm referencing I think "no, now that looks wrong, she's too tall" and all that, but once you watch it in motion, it makes sense. And the more I get in the habit of that the more bold I can be and the faster I can work.
