Read the Brubaker/Cooke run. I didn't think much of the character either until then, and now she's probably one of my favorite characters in DC comics. Top three. Probably one of the best comic runs I've ever read.

I've got a bit of a headcannon fan theory kind of thing that atleast helps me appreciate Selina.
Its not a new idea that the characters in Batman's Rogues Gallery, most of them reflect an aspect of Bruce's own psyche. But my theory is that the lady Rogues represent aspects of himself that actually tempt him against his better nature. Ones that actually kind of have chance because he kinda wants to give into them. They're his desires.
Harley Quinn represents Batman's desire to actually kill The Joker.
Talia Al Ghul represents his megalomanic desire for control that Batman shows with things like OMAC and Batman Incorperated, which is reflected by Ra's Al Ghul.
And Selina... Selina represents Bruce's desire for the thrill that comes with a life as a crimefighter.I dont really have anything like this for Ivy. Fuck you, its a nice idea.
