Now that Civil War is out, can we all acknowledge that Toad Holland was a terrible choice for Spider-Man? And that they should of brought back Andrew Garfield to play Spider-Man. I mean just look at the facts, Andrew SOUNDS and LOOKS(especially Ramos's Spidey) like Spider-Man. Toad Holland looks like a toad and sounds like a 5-year old girl. Andrew Spidey didn't now down to the police or facist figure because he's smart, Toad Spiderboy autatically bows down to Iron Nazi and does his bidding. Andrew Spidey actually tried talking to his enemies (like Electro), Toad Spiderboy beat up Cap and Falcom without talking to them. Andrew Spidey actually made his own costumes, Toad Spiderboy needed Uncle Tony to make it. Andrew Spidey was actually funny, Toad Spiderboy was cringeworthy. Andrew Spidey was actually important in his movies, Toad Spiderboy was a pointless cameo. Andrew Spidey actually inspired people (like the little kid to stand up against Rhino and the crane workers), Toad Holland didnt inspire anyone and didnt even know what AT-ATs are.
Amazing Spider-Man was the classic Spider-Man and always will be.

I think both Holland and Garfield delivered good Spider-mans and Peters.
We did see a lot more of Garfield in the role, and how it deviates from the comics a little.
But, as far as portraying spider-man go, Garfield was perfect, and the script, messy story and some shit dialogue lines got in his way.
I'd be perfectly fine with him coming back as Spider-man for Marvel. But they wanted a younger actor to portray a younger Spider-man, so Holland is better.

Way I see it, Maguire was portraying a dumb super shy Superman, not Spider-man.
Garfield was portraying a lonely Peter. The first ASM made me feel bad for Peter cause he really was a loner with some maneirisms. The second one was balls, but Spider-man was perfect.
Add to that a bunch of "kids are into this" stuff the execs decided for him, and it's TAMS. I don't think it's bad, just maybe different in a way that didn't hurt the character in-universe, it was coherent, but not appealing.
We didn't see much of Holland, but his Spider-man was a bit over the top with "WOAH" feelings everywhere. Maybe the situation called for it, but I felt the "younger" vibe was too much. His Peter seems just as it should be, a normal kid with not much of a fashion sense and into STEM stuff.
