I like the idea that PBubs and Marcy are "Hetoersexual Life-partners". Their relationship, and even love, is real and strong, but not in a romantic way. It's the same kind of relationship the Fin and Jake have, but even stronger due to all the years they've existed and spent together.
I don't think adding the romance angle will hurt their relationship, and I think it can be handled well and maturely, but I just don't see it necessary for the writers in order to expand on their relationship.

It seemed very serious to me. Bonnibel used to "date" Mr.Creampuff and doesn't even show the closeness Bubbline has. Finn and Jaks are also brothers, they have a brotherly bond.
See I got no problem with Bubbline, and I get why people like it, and based on what the show's shown there seems to be more than enough evidence to say they used to be an item and maybe got back together now, but I just don't fucking care.
It's been 4 and a half years and in that time it has always been the most consistently discussed thing in Adventure Time. Not the characters themselves, just that they're totally lesbos who scissor every time they're off scream and it's totally canon, didn't you know? Just look at this panel from a comic that came out 3 years ago, how can you deny it!
Anything else from any other aspect of the show is more interesting than Bubbline, unless there's a super original and creative take on it.

The show didn't really fuck up. Adventure Time has been slowly evolving more and more away from solely Finn and Jake-centric episodes since Season 3. It makes sense that fans are interested in characters that have had dozens of episodes devoted to them, and currently at the moment both Finn and Jake have had plenty of development and advancement of their own, so its not like they're being neglected by the writers.

It was just showing that it's something very minor that people always blow out of proportion. There's always those humongous Tumblr posts that have 80,000 notes on them that's just a collection of hints and innuendo chucked from all throughout the show and people acting like it's definitely canon and that. People just go nuts over it, which I understand why, but it's not canon no matter how many ridiculously small hints they find.
I really doubt Bubbline is exciting because it's 'controversial,' it's just because people dig strong female characters with contrasting personalities and a good level of development that have lots of signs pointing to there being a romantic relationship there. It gets people going.

People obsess about things with a wide variety of topics and reasons, why does it bother you so much that this particular one exist, and doesn't even get blown up in comparison to the other fandom.
