It's still going too, I check in now and then to see if it's dead but it's not. Miho's been having a conversation in a hospital for like 3 years now and just started fighting the leet-ninja.

I remember Applegeeks dying off quickly, once the author/artist realized there was really no point or story they were trying to do.

Does anybody read Erin Dies Alone? Don't give a shit about their other comic but depressed shut-in Erin does things for me

It really wasn't that good from the get-go. It got a pass at first because most webcomics start out bad, but Megatokyo actually got worse.

Speaking of which, remember when VG Cats was both popular and relevant? Scott really screwed up on that one, if he updated more he'd probably still be fairly big.

Don't know what ever happened to the people that made it they just poofed, art was pretty bad but it was acceptably funny and showed improvement as it went on.
I.Rev was definitely their best one in my opinion though.

So what happened with Dominic Deegan anyway?
Besides power levels and orc rape-for-her-own-good?

Anywho, I remember RPGworld... but I feel like there was another in a similar vein that had about 1000 comics before the story ended

The finale revolved around the King, who had never been explored before and was democratically elected, trying to hijack the source of all magic so he could keep his kingdom magical. There was a lot of talking and then the king just kind of died. Then Deegan told Doormat he loved her and the series ended.

When I was an edgy teen, I used to read an edgy semi-furry webcomic called Inhuman. I occasionally check back to see if it's still running. It is. It's one of the oldest webcomics I know that's still running, and it's one I never, ever heard anyone else talk about.

Am I the only one who has ever read it?

9th Elsewhere. Don't bother looking it up; it was deleted from the internet a long time ago. I just like the casual exploratory mindscape concepts, and it seemed like it was going somewhere with that.

I do. I felt that it didn't have much of a plot to begin with and went downhill from there.

"I have Knight Vision" was the only memorable part of that comic.

I've read that once. I don't remember much, except it was edgy as fuck.

This comic's untimely demise still pains me. The author dumped it right in the middle of a conversation between characters, and then ran off to do a lousy jokey comic strip where there's these monsters, see, and they work in a dungeon, like it's an office or something, lel! Like Dilbert but with goblins!
It's sometimes a decent chuckle, but as far as depth it's just about paper thin.

It just sucks that we get that instead of more dark Lovecraftian fantasy.

I remember this one webcomic from years ago. It was about a divorced mad scientist, with a lobster claw for a hand, dealing with life. And she had a blonde mechanic for an assistant, and her husband was a superhero and I think she made a giant robot at someone. Does anyone remember it at all or was just a fever dream of mine?
>>
>>82809137
Eve was a qt robot girl when those were still a semi-novel concept, but I think they figured out quick that that's all they had going.
>>
>>82809281
I remember that comic. It's the only webcomic author Charles Stross reads, apparently. But Stross is a cunt, and I thought the comic was too edgy. The blond mechanic had an annoying comic-Russian accent, and was mostly there to provide some tits.

But yeah, that was a real comic. I recall something about her breaking into a floating city with mythological beings on it. It really got up its own ass about having a villain MC.
>>

>>82803374
He's actually been updating on a semi-consistent weekly basis for what, a year now? That's practically breakneck compared to the 1-2 quarterly comics he did for like half a decade. Still, the story is completely incomprehensible to anyone but Fred. He needs to sit down, hash out some fucking Bibles and then hire people to actually finish this shit. It's been damn near 20 years and they've been 'stuck in Tokyo' for what, two weeks? A month?

It's interesting to me because it starts out like badly written, poorly drawn cliche tripe, but as the quality improves the artist sticks with it and makes it work rather than retconning or ignoring the early stuff.

Diagnosed and 'flexible' in his own words, respectively. He was clearly never quite well. His breakdown was before tumblr existed though, so he basically gets to tell all the fags these days to fuck off as he pleases.
>>
>>82809548
It appears to finally be taking shape as "Anime is real" as in every single kind of anime cliche/trope exists in Japan but everyone tries to hide it badly. Largo gets it because he's too stupid/insane to care, while everyone else tries to keep Piro and Kimiko in the fucking dark about it, when just telling them would have let the plot resolve almost immediately. That's the point, but Gallagher also believes everyone cares about all the intricate little worlds he's spawned out of that environment and wants to spend all his time talking about it than just getting the fuck on with the story. Jesus Christ, he's still trying to make a VN and acts as if he's the first western creator to entertain the idea even though we live in a time where everyone and their dog can churn out a VN/RPG in a week, and he's still already almost 3 years late delivering it. KS was conceptualized, rejiggerd like a million fucking times, created and released whole in the time it took him to even sack up enough to commit to actually making one.

>>
>>82810842
She's in 'just sort of there' territory at the moment. Her actual role is probably about to end up as pseudo-antagonist. While I said the point of the world is 'anime is real' I think the actual theme he's trying to aim for is "perception." Every major character in the comic is defined by how they perceive themselves and the world around them VS. how the world perceives them and that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Piro and Kimiko are the baseline as they're the most 'normal' as in their aspirations and insecurities are most like normal people, while everyone else (save Largo) has something to hide or wants to be something they aren't and it's all weird bullshit. Miho is the extreme as she is apparently utterly defined by how others perceive her and control her life, and living 'for herself' is a literal recipe for disaster. Largo is the other extreme; he's a walking representation of that Ronald McDonald 'This book's normal and not weird' meme. His perception of the world is so twisted (not in the tryhard twisted fucking psychopath way but the actual definition of the word) that he takes everything at face value and finds it all routine like some kind of fucking savant. It's why Erika 'inexplicably' likes him so much after first meeting him even though Piro thinks he's an embarrassment. He's so utterly unfazed by everything that she can actually be herself around him. It'll all end in a ridiculously roundabout way of saying everyone needs to take the collective stick out of their asses and open up a little. It's just it took me until sometime last year to get a handle on this shit and that's fucking absurd for a near 20 year old comic.

tl;dr no

You're probably thinking of Adventurers!, it did have a fairly long run. Antihero-for-hire was the follow-up, and is still running. I think his online CCG is dead, though.

Tessa Stone a fucking shit

>>82806894
I think they got their books from the publisher, but the problem was they'd paid extra for special editions that Stone was supposed to doodle in, and she just didn't want anything to do with the comic any more so they had to ship out undoodled ones and reimburse the disgruntled buyers

RPG World never got an ending because Ian Jones Quartey graduated highschool and eventually made his way into animation.

Unlike a lot of these webcomics knuckleheads, he is not eating dented cans of spaghettios off his sweet sweet t-shirt money.
>>
>>82814188

I liked the fact that Adventurers! had art that started off terrible, got slightly better for a while and then settled into a comfortable level of terrible. I think the artist realized that his art was never going to be great, so he might as well not stress about it and instead just focus on making the comic fun to read. I read it eagerly right up to the end, so at least in my case it worked.

I knew I didn't imagine that webcomic! It was some 80s style, ultra realistic, intentionally ugly comic about a Immortal biker/CEO hunting down demons that killed his family in the future. He was like lobo played serious.

The comic did not go on very long (that art style looked seriously exhausting to keep up with any regularity) and the artist pulled it down fast. He started a spin-off comic set even farther into the future but that met the same fate.

Anyone have a archive or a link to it? I can't fucking find it anywhere.

Dark Places was so good, and Dungeon Grind is such a poor replacement. Probably my biggest abandoned-webcomic disappointment.

Second biggest is probably Thunderstruck, which was a pretty good modern fantasy thing about two sisters whose grandfather was actually Prometheus getting embroiled in a secret war. Author abandoned it to write scifi novels.

Runner up is Afterlife Blues, which was an in interesting sci-fi thing about an AI planning a heist to steal parts of itself back from captivity. The authors also wrote A Miracle of Science, which was pretty great for its day.

I'm still salty about RPG World. I followed that shit right from the beginning, only to get blue-balled at the end. The fandom even offered to finish it itself, and the creator agreed, only to freak out when the project was underway and can it all. Fuck you, I still want my closure.

>I've done NOTHING to sex up Aeris.
>Given the tightness of her pants, it's only natural the old girl pokes through.
Pick one.
I liked his FF11 strip, even though it was only like a dozen strips

I still believe I'm the only guy who regularly read pungirls.

I wandered onto Stross while looking for good, modern science fiction writers. After all, when there's this wealth of good authors in the past, there have to be undiscovered modern writers, right?

I read Saturn's Children first, and I thought I had finally found someone who's not afraid to write boldly. But that's pretty much his most imaginative work. Singularity Sky is also pretty good, and I read that second. It was all downhill after that, and I didn't even touch that "Fantasy" that's just him pissing and moaning about American foreign policy for five books straight.

I was a fan, for however short a while, so I visited his site. Nigger, I was not prepared for the sheer hypocrisy and ideological flagwaving. What really got me was that he would ask a question for the commenters, and then he'd go off and get into bitchfits with people who didn't give the "right" answer.

There was also some crazy black bitch, who was a fellow author, in his comments making claims about how African slaves were used to do literally every shitty job in Industrial Age Europe. Massive victim complex, and of course writing black supremacist Steampunk.

That blog made me lose all respect for him. Fucker tics every SJW box, and I don't throw that term around just for people I don't like. Weird how a guy who openly invites fans to come drink a beer with him in bars is such a totalitarian cunt on his own site.

Urchin from Sakana Yama stopped by one day last year, did a little Q&A

I just finished Kid Radd the other day. I liked it but it was a lot shorter than I thought it would be.

Once in a while I check the latest panels of Jerkcity. It's an acquired taste though.

When I was in high school I remember reading some webcomic about an MMORPG. In retrospect it was really shitty. I think it was called The Noob or something.

Probably just non-english speaker and not bothering to look up proper terms. What's wrong with algorithm map or whatever it is I wrote?

At least in the Nordics kings could be elected. Especially if a king fucked up, the nobility might just decide he's not fit for yhe job no more and lock him up and have an election-type thing among themselves about who to ask for the next king.

Think of it as a hereditary CEO position. If you do well, your kid will take over after you, but if you fuck up, the board of stockholders can give you the boot and appoint a new CEO

I know what you mean.
Some things are so bad they're good.
Jack is such an abomination it becomes a masterpiece.

I remember Living in Greytown preceded Lizard. Its archive always returns dead links for me. Is it for keen spot premium only?

Looks like a viable alternative to RSS. How well does it work for irregularly updating webcomics?

I read it but not regularly.

I think the author was on the Homestar Wiki Forum.
