I think it's just hero fanboying. Remember, he comes to this not as some agent who has to deal with Captain America, or a God from another world, or someone Who's been a superhero in their own right for year, and has a massive ego, like Tony. Hero fanboying. Antman would secretly like to be a superhero, and here is Captain America, the best example of one asking for his help. Plus, Cap was basically putting himself in Antman's position - being a fugitive trying to do the right thing outside the law - and so he's going to be very sympathetic about the situation.

Scott is established as the sort of guy who'll put his own comfort, freedom, and safety on the line to do the right thing. Before the start of his film he gets fired for trying to correct anintentionalaccounting error that is screwing over the customers of the company he is working for. He then proceeds to go all robin hood on them, stealing millions and giving it back to their customers which lands him in jail.
He's a guy who really wants to do good but tends to fuck things up in the process. It makes complete sense that he'd respect and admire Captain America and that when given the chance he'd try to play the role of upstanding super-hero even though it puts him on the opposite side of the law.

Part of me doubts it. I suppose it is possible. The Avengers are individually known to the public by name, so it's possible the press would get hold of his identity. But seeing as he was sent to some top secret ocean prison, that just gives me the vibe that he was arrested and the authorities didn't publicly identify him. And also there were no witnesses at the airport. As far as we know.
