I think you're missing the point.
Step 1: Look ahead in your own story to the point where your plan has run its course, either to success or failure.
Step 2: Act out all of the intermediate parts of your plan, even if you know it's going to have failed by the end, in a completely slavish fashion, since that's how your powers work.
There's no "work in progress" because with these powers you're incapable of progress of any kind. Every moment of your life is mapped out with perfect clarity before you get to live out any of them.
