There are other popular gay ships on Tumblr/Twitter, but this one break these common places and became mainstream, since even normies now ship them. There are articles on mass media publications defending it over Steve/Sharon. I mean, they're cool, but it's not the first time a strong relationship between guys is portrayed.

Stopped reading there.

well duh because stucky is better than all other slash pairings. no man in the mcu loves another man as much as steve loves bucky. like he would do almost anything for him.

Depending on what you consider a "mass media publication" that could mean jack shit, but still, I don't believe it unless I see some links.

I saw Vanity Fair with one.

Honestly, the Russos and writers themselves have said multiple times that the Steve and Bucky relationship is a powerful love story that has many of the same beats as a traditional romance. Lost love and overcoming brainwashing and protecting somebody over all else. It's written as a romance without the kiss. It's not that much of a stretch to make it sexual.
>>
>>82688300
>overcoming brainwashing

Ah, yes. The hallmark of a traditional romance.

steve/bucky is basically the new kirk/spock?
>>
>>82687631
Because guys can't be friends unless they want the other dude's dick, didn't you know?

>have emotional connection
>one is goodhearted and cheerful
>the other is dark and brooding

I don't even know why this is a question.
>>

Steve was the only thing that broke through Bucky's brainwashing. It's a power of love/true love's kiss trope with him saying the "end of the line" thing to trigger him back.
>>
There have been mainsteam publication articles on Kirk and Spock and Harry and Draco, and in this case I'm talking about TIME, Newsweek, etc.

Normal people have been aware of "shipping" since at least the 90s and while once there was no chance of something like this becoming canon, society's changing views towards lgbt means it could happen now, occasionally these pairings do now. That's all.

>implying steve x bucky will ever be canon, let alone in the MCU
>>
>>82687631
They could have at least cut his stupid hair, he looked like an angry chimp all the time
>>
>>82688421
It won't be, but their love and devotion for each other is real and pure and canon, so nothing is ever going to stop people from drawing them kissing.
>>
>>82688438
Friendship is magic, and apparently an excuse to draw gay fantasies.

Cap1: Steve doesn't go into combat as Captain America until he finds out Bucky's unit has been capture. This is the first time he picks up the shield to fight. Bucky dies, Cap cries, takes the plane down.

Cap2: Everyone Steve knew was dead or nearly, he's having trouble adjusting to the modern era. Finds out dead best friend is actually being brainwashed by Hydra who is actually Shield, so Steve takes both organizations down. Steve drops the shield instead of fighting Bucky. Breaks through his brainwashing with the power of love. Alas, Bucky gets away.

Cap3: Bucky is framed for a bombing he didn't commit. Steve is determined to take him in alive since the orders are shoot to kill. Finds out it's all an elaborate plot, which ultimately leads to Stark finding out Bucky killed his parents. Defends Bucky against manlet rage. Drops his shield, because he no longer needs to be Captain America. He finally completed his mission from 70 years ago. He's finally rescued Bucky.

Marvel's greatest love story. Thank you, Markus and Mcfeely.
>>
>>82688537
To be fair, the only other relationship that got that much development in the MCU is Tony/Pepper, so I can kind of understand the shipping thing.
>>
>>82688635
Sharon didn't really stand a chance. It just wasn't as emotionally compelling or powerful when you see Steve tearing the world apart three movies straight for Bucky.
>>
>>82688328
Anon, nothing will become the new kirk/spock. Not even the new kirk and spock.

K/S defined slash as a genre, popularized fanzines and had (has?) a con dedicated to itself.
>>
>>82687631
Society is degenerate and can't accept close bonds between men without commodifying and objectifying them
>>
>>82687631

because Peggy was a forced romance in the movie, and Sharon is this weird attmpt for him to bang Peggy after shes dead
>>
>>82689050
[tipping intensifies]
>>
>>82687631
It started with TWS because before that no one gave a shit about Bucky, but once he became a well chiseled poor tortured tragic guy who wears black all the ladies dropped their panties and fags got insta boners.

Steve agonizing over him while angstying also provided some of the appeal to the pairing so yeah Stucky was pretty much an instant success.

Honestly I don’t much care for MCU Bucky and I think 616 Bucky is more interesting and has more personality.
>>
>>82689068
Except he was atttacted to Sharon before Peggy was dead and before he knew she was related to Peggy.
>>
Love is just the ultimate form of friendship. Curse my soft heart.
>>
I dunno but ithat pairing produced some of the most annoying and retarded people
>>
Because lazy hack writers have spent so long telling us that all me are either idiots, perverts or emotionally dead automatons that any suggestion that a character might have more depth just confuses people
>>
>>82688717
I feel bad for the actress though because she's just doing her job and she gets some borderline Olicity with Katie Cassidy levels of harrasment from rabid shippers.
>>
>>82689297
Not really. He knew little about her and was encouraged into asking her out by widow. It seemed more an attempt at normalcy than actual attraction
>>
>>82689360
At least, it's not arrow tier yet. Holy shit is that a travesty.
>>
>>82688357

there's several sites there 1 step above buzzfeed
>>
Children of the modern era are unfamiliar with the concept of intimate friendship and consequentially associate all displays of affection with sexual attraction. It's a symptom of an increasingly introverted and maladjusted society that only knows how to express intimacy through sexual acts. Kind of like a society of whores with daddy issues.

Stucky is popular because it's a well done bromance, and people just don't know how to deal with that kind of thing anymore.
>>
>>82687631
Because homo shippers always latch onto male/male friendships that are shown to be very strong and get lots of screen time. Male friendships being shown as "until the end of the line" (aka for better and for worse) as this one are pretty rare in modern media.
Also because they're both white.
