In another episode, it is shown he has 374 employee of the month awards. Divided by 12, this is about 32 years...which means that at the VERY LEAST the show takes place in 2034. That's giving the show the benefit of the doubt by saying the Employee of the Month episode is the 'newest' one to take place.
On Mr. Krabs' license, it says he was born in '42. Which means Mr. Krabs is 92 years old.
