I liked the first issue, this own was less interesting to me. It's not bad, but I'm not hooked either.
This book is just decent, nothing special. Unlike other political books out there, doesn't have a lot of heart to it, nor does it capture you into Wakandan politics and atmosphere. The art match the tone either.
So this, actually, I felt was quite a big improvement on the first issue. There are hints that Coates' might really deliver on the rep and he is already shaking off the prose author baggage that people so often bring into comic books.

This is a minor thing, but I really like the look of how the Wakandans dress in this. There's bits of more old fashioned tribal "techno spears" stuff, but it's largely limited to people using high-tech battle gear or wearing ceremonial garb. The average citizens dress pretty normally.
Though I'm wondering what fashions they're drawing on for inspiration. Wakanda is, traditionally, an East African nation but past runs (I'm looking at you, Hudlin) have given them a more West African cultural aesthetic.

He's a superhero and a king at once, he should be constantly facing important decisions and the results of them and it'd be really easy to actually show any sort of internal conflict like "hmmm what if I made the wrong decision, how do I not let this ruin me and how do I make good decisions in the future." It's not like every character has to have some sort of Overwhelming Emotional Trauma In The Past or has to be A Hugely Flawed Asshole to be interesting. I'm hoping this series gets around to actually giving T'Challa any actual character development in the next issue since the pacing on this one was so slow we didn't really get to see any of it.
