In retrospect, I don't know why we were expecting to hear news on a new show this past Saturday. They always, ALWAYS, do a Memorial Day marathon, so if a new show had premiered on the 17th, the schedule would've been like

That's highly disruptive for a new show. Inuyasha: The Final Act had a similar situation where it only got two episodes in before a movie month, and it took a while to recover from that (coupled with the fact that the movie month in question was the one that nearly killed Toonami). So, by giving DBZ Kai a full hour for the week between DW's end and the Champloo marathon, the new show can get at least a full month in before potentially being interrupted.
But people will meme and assume the full hour of Kai is permanent.

I personally love it because the author can get really imaginative as far as super powers and their applications go. Though it's worth mentioning that stands aren't a thing until the third part of the series (the series as a whole is a family saga starting with Jonathan Joestar in 19th century England, with each "part" following a different generation of Joestar and their particular crazy adventures. Each part can be read individually, but I think it's better to start from the beginning and read them in order)
