There's a small minority of people that see X2 as a weak movie, but the OMG BEST MOVIE EVER MADE people have been drowning them out for 13 years.
Personally I think it's decent, but really overhyped and did a terrible job of balancing its cast. It's the movie that started the trend of just padding the cast out with a bunch of characters, but what the later movies learned was that it's better to focus on two or three major characters and then shove everyone else into being glorified extras- which is a disappointing use of those characters but resolves the balancing problem. X2 tried to give almost all of its cast a role to play in the story but ended up just being bloated and some of the characters that should've been given more focus end up suffering (Jean's Phoenix subplot is a complete afterthought for most of the movie but suddenly becomes a major thing during the climax), and characters that had little or no actual part to play end up wasting screentime (Rogue, Iceman and Pyro).

I know I will enjoy it, because I really really wanted to see Apocalypse. I actually liked the trailers (yup), and I liked the memequote "everything they build yadda yadda". I don't know if it be a GOOD movie, but I know that this is something I wanted to see for a long while.
I do am worried that this is magneto/prof x show. But there are also many positive things that will happen, like comic book accurate blob, psylocke, and jubille, Years ago, Singer would not even toy with the idea of accurate costumes.
It's far from perfection, but I feel it's the right direction.

Therein might actually lie a problem. DoFP setting unreasonable expectations could actually factor into a middeling movie suddenly being panned as bad.

Even if it is "good", it's not divisive, it's just aggressively mediocre from what I've seen in the reviews.
All the good reviews on RT are giving it Cs and 6s or 7s. All the bad reviews are just giving it 4s or 5s. The bad problems are just apparently Apocalypse not being interesting. People aren't saying it's too dark or too grim (which would make no sense because Days of Future Past was pretty grim) just that it's too... boring.
