Good evening owls of /co/,

fucking millennium

The first two Post-Crisis events were really dull.

Bendis wrote Millennium?
>>

I think Bendis legitimately thinks highly of what he does. Which is unfortunate.

>>82617944
Invasion gave us Vril, and as a concept, "Oh shit, aliens!" is much easier to work with than "One of your cast members is going to turn out to be an evil robot, I don't care how little sense it makes."

they probably are selling to people, though

Yep. #0-#7 and from solicits it seems like people finally pick their teams like 3-4 issues in.

I'm expecting everything to get wrapped up in #7. Or for #7 to get split into two issues.

it's an event #1 and it's ostensibly riding on the movie title, it's going to do 300k+ at least. 500k doesn't sound that farfetched

I think it will. I don't see "news" engines criticizing FCBD, or caring about missilegate.
>>
>>82618509
I don't think it's expected but I can easily see it. They've been hyping it for months, and retailers always over order events and #1s. Also the movie came out and retailers over order on those months too.
Now if it can sustain the usual event numbers is the question because I haven't seen very many people actually wanting to read it. Even the ones I've seen saying they will read it are very cautious and don't have many expectations.
>>
>>82618488

Reasonable. Being a convenient palette cleanser for Harvest fuckery is a nice bonus for me though. They really tried to do the Monarch thing, AGAIN. Goddammit.

I think I have an idea of why comic books have become so childish in recent years. It's a reflection of the attitudes of the "core" audience(read: manchildren). Hate to go there, but let's not lie to ourselves.

to be fair she has been misused by pretty much every other writer and no two people have written her the same, she's still kind of a blank slate despite being around for decades

you'd think Johns writing her for nearly a fucking decade would have helped set his portrayal in stone but nope!

He didn't have to try and make half assed character developments or an entire arc of plot.

>>82618886
The kind of people who literally have a compulsion to buy it. Like, they're in the mindset that it's mandatory for no reason.

You know those people, I know those people, it's sad. And that's why we get bad X-men stories, because there are too many core buyers who pick it up for its own sake.

I can't even remember most of them. IIRC the Deadpool one was pretty much the only decent one. Thor was a shitty Loki face. Hulk was cute and kinda-a-dick-joke. Uh, I remember Anka's being tame (and kinda young?) but serious muscle definition going on, and maybe a kind of rude graphic effect.

Ostrander Firestorm, still Prof and Ronnie, but Stein's health was bad. Firestorm had just done his "I took all the nukes" and had Captain Atom sent after him accordingly. #63 or thereabouts.

The new Inhumans are just an attempt to replicate the X-Men niche with Inhumans. That isn't actually a bad thing if you're willing to tackle ancient xenophobic traumatised sci-fi monarchy and worldwide biological terrorist attack alongside them. These are all parts that make up Inhuman as a thing.

I'm skimming CBR for CWII reactions and there is nothing too exciting so far, just general agreement that Bendis's T'Challa is bad, killing Rhodey is dumb and possibly racist, Bendis isn't good, why does Thanos has guns, basically the same stuff /co/ is bitching about

also this guy
>Loved this issue. Civil War II will be greater than the first. Also, amazing Carol moments beating Thanos down and crying holding Rhodey. Man, even that cover is more beefcakey than most of Marvel's Beefcake covers.

Don't worry, she gets nuked at the end, along with most of the other cool background characters in the series.

A certain portion of the Internet already hated him because he self-identified as a feminist and now his feminist former followers hate him too after AoU.
>>
>>82620120
I still remember when Max Landis actually revealed himself on /tv/ and the thread was just John Landis is a murderer jokes from then on.
>>
>I was aware of what happened to Rhodey in the Civil War movie when we were putting this book together. The idea of an inciting incident that could equally affect both Tony and Carol very personally was something I wanted to do. I wanted them on equal emotional footing. And, oh my god, guess who is Tony’s best friend and Carol’s sometimes lover? Both Tony and Carol could say of their actions, “Rhodey would want this,” and they would both maybe be right. I didn’t want to do anything too close to the movie but at the same time there just was no other character that could represent something so meaningful to both leading characters.
>>

>pandering
I can't take anyone who uses the word 'pandering' that way seriously. Literally every work of fiction ever is technically pandering to someone. Complaining about it only makes you look like a little bitch.

>>
>>82620037
No way. Major Force is a dumb thug, first and foremost.
>>
>>82620114
Basically, there's this Harley Quinn issue (not canon btw) where she goes to a con and fucks a room full of Joker cosplayers. Landis thought it was icky and out of character, and then the SJWs thought he was a mysoginist pig for hating on an "empowered" feminist icon (a label Landis disagrees with) and /pol/tards hated on him because anything that sexualizes women in comics should be allowed. Like I said, it was beautiful.

>Theory of mind (often abbreviated ToM) is the ability to attribute mental states—beliefs, intents, desires, pretending, knowledge, etc.—to oneself and others and to understand that others have beliefs, desires, intentions, and perspectives that are different from one's own.
