The better question is, what was the purpose of this ring he was hiding in his mouth after being locked in the cell in the end of episode 16 with sinister music and all? I thought it's going to be some kind of alternate source of his powers and that he actually let himself be arrested as part of his plan. But they never mention or show that again and it turned out that he didn't plan anything and if it wasn't for Malcolm's mercy, he would rot in prison. Did I miss something or the writers really just ignored this cliffhanger, hoping that viewers will also forget?
