I actually reallly liked Mac Gargan as venom. Unpopular opinion I know but it was a great dynamic. He used the symbiote to make him great, to offset his worthlessness but he wasn't good enough for it he was just a means to an end.
He was desperately attached to the symbiote but it only saw him as a temporary host. Mac was a d lister villain who suddenly had the power of an a lister. \he didn't know what to do with it . Like some poor smuck dating a girl who's way out of his league and he's aware of it.
Desperate for her not to leave, desperate to control and contain her and make her his and his only all the while he was a failure and a loser who she had no business being with.
Ultimately the dynamic was great, but the fact it couldn't last was the whole point of it. I'm not saying mac should have stayed venom but they time they had together was great.
I wish to see Mac interact with flash venom, turn the spurned lover trope venom is affiliated with on it's head. instead of the symbiote mad that it's host rejected it mac gargan is desperate to get it back... but it wants nothing to do with him, it's got a far superior host who understands it and deserves it

It's my head canon that Anti Venom is a byproduct of The Darkforce and Venom, since it's not actually a symbiote spawn it can't be labeled as a Klyntar, though it does hold many symbikoe characteristics.
