There's a dome experiment going on and they're being very secretive about what they're doing, they drugged benson in the first special and he saw people in costumes for who they were, this episode had a callback moment where they tried to warn him what would happen if he pressed a button but the dome censored them and he was freaking out from when he was drugged.

It's simple if you have the time, watch The Dome Experiment Special (it's a 22 minute one) and The Button (that image and most of the others is from it) and maybe Chili Cook Off.
It's a shame you dropped it there, that was it's lowest point ever but it picked up from it quickly, so fast they even had an episode having Mordecai and Margaret cut off the tension and agree to be friends without the worry and weirdness.

The Dome Experiment Special had some dome guys put one over the park, study them, and do some weird shit that's not over yet. They drugged benson after he found out their secrets (or started to) and woke up in a simulation like area where the scientists dressed like the crew to make him think he was talking to them so they could get him to say the stuff he found out. He came out of the hallucination and saw them as the people in costumes, and escaped.
The new episode had the real crew trying to warn him what would happen if he pressed a button but the dome censored them and their appearance changed to the fake guys.

I like to believe it might be in line with the Dome special where they talked about "The dome affects us all in different ways" but who knows.
An episode titled Eileen's Parents was also on CN's listing but was pushed back when The Button's airdate changed, pushing the schedule back. It may be official.

I like how all the Halloween specials have had something needing to be removed because it was too much. I recall the second(?) special with them driving had them get behind an accident and it was their dead bodies on the side of the road being covered up, dead body removal crews coming in and a lot of police cars around the scene.

The cut opening from the movie was pretty cool, and had a nice scene with pops.
Originally they did get to the park right before Benson started the meeting, he gave out the jobs and before he got to Mordecai and Rigby, he told Pops that they had to talk to Maellard on the phone in 10 minutes, Pops makes a joke about it being "A call with Pops' Pops" and Mordecai said "Nice one Pops"

Oh for sure they had fun. I think everyone who worked on it made some sort of promotional piece, and one guy did 3 posters like it was a movie, with them being a poster for one character, he did a Mordecai, Rigby, and their original duck form one.
I liked that one too, they went all out for references and did some pretty neat stuff. I liked the ending with the wind sweep short montage, everything about it was good.

I'm not sure why you see such a strong hatred for him. It's usually comedic retardation, he doesn't always do it to spite. He is a jerk to people on purpose and a very jealous character too, but it usually doesn't bother me too much. I laugh at some of it, like the car trip in Video Game Wizard where he's playing a shitty song he made to get Mordecai to change his mind about choosing him to play the game with him instead of Skips. He eventually matures since he was technically the little kid in earlier seasons, as commentaries add, but it's sort of a slow progression. While Mordecai has relationship troubles he goes from insulting and teasing him about it to helping him with it and showing sympathy. I think through the middle ways of the show it was unintentional but it was there, that he was changing. I say stick with it, anon.

Well with the knowledge that he cools down in season 3 I think I'll keep on watching, it's no biggie.
But I know that I didn't like him in 'Just Set up the Chairs'. Maybe it's from personal experience of working with some completely lazy guys in my time and having to drag them along like a weight on my leg, but that episode really annoyed me too.

I suppose, I kinda grew up with it in a way, and I extremely like the characters, like, it's something I look forward to even if it's not a serious episode, I just like the characters a lot.
I like seeing the concepts and dynamics they get into, it's just really nice to see the stories. I've had to deal with a few cartoon finales already, RS is one of those I don't want to let go of, because JG has a really solid record for putting out good episodes and creative stories.

Seasons 5 and 6 are okay. There are really good episodes and then weakly written ones. Season 7 and the movie are god tier like the first 4 seasons.
Prank Callers remains one of my favorite episodes of any show, nice chase music, a cell phone ring tone that's exactly like my grandma's motel phones, everything.

Are you me? I feel exactly the same way. I grew up with Regular Show throughout my teen years. I remember when Regular Show started I was 14 and I was surprised they just cussed on CN. Memories were made.
There's only a few shows I watch on television. Many call me a pleb for my taste. I just enjoy shows that me me feel warm/nice inside after watching them. Regular Show is just my favorite cartoon. People ask me why and I say it's the characters. The characters are so well written and almost feel like actual people I'm following. I like the trippy stories and the basic yet cool art of the show. It's just a nice ten minutes of my week. If the show ends I probably will cry. These characters mean a lot to me. The same happened with Gravity Falls for me. I don't want to see these characters go but I respect that every story needs to end. If you go on forever you only become shit. I hope season 8 does wrap up Regular Show in a respectful way if season 8 is the last season.

I guess I am, I'd be pretty sentimental about the show ending to, I probably wouldn't cry, but it would give be that shitty feeling in my chest and all. I like it for those reasons as well (and then some) and also like(d) Gravity Falls.
It's looking like Season 8 is final because if they change the course of the series like promised... it's going to be a seasons worth of that, and if they do end up in space or whatever or write off a character, it obviously won't be the same. If they're in space or trapped somewhere like in the dome throughout Season 8, I don't see them coming home at the end and things going back to episodic stories, seems like the last route "let's do this" kind of arc. That's pretty tough to hear.

I'm glad I made a thread for RS that didn't devolve into hate, only hate a few negative moment mentions, and it lasted over 10 hours.
I just wish /co/ would give it another chance, I'm not begging or anything, but when it hit it's signature low point, that was it, it got back to working up it's original motive.
Sleep Cycle was a plot, and it played through as one, just like the early "classic" seasons.

Like, I used to think it was cool, when I was younger, it seems like a swell place. Sure there's pressure, but you sign up for it when you're in the animation/cartoon business. Margaret is pretty cool. It was a rough start when she was just the unattainable girl who only showed up at the beginning and end of the episode (which would inevitably involve a lot of Mordecai being an idiot) but things started to turn around once she was hanging out with the guys and Eileen. Sucks that she and CJ couldn't become friends and are now unable to exist on the show at the same time.
