If there's one thing that Phantom Planet did correctly is showing the consequences that Vlad brought upon himself.
He's outed as a criminal to the world, his failure to stop the meteor made him a wanted man and Jack, the only person who consistently supported him throughout the series, finally abandons him after seeing him for the asshole he is.

Yeah, as a series finale, Phantom Planet really shat the bed. No resolution on Dani or Valerie, rushed the fuck out of the discovery of Danny's powers, had Danny lose and regain his powers in incredibly dumb ways, ignored more important ghosts like Clockwork and Dark Danny, made the final villain a fucking rock, shafted Vlad in the worst way possible, twisted characterizations of Danny's friends for the sake of the plot, had a really dumb conclusion for Danny and Sam's relationship, and they made Tucker mayor because why not.
And people complain about TLOK's finale.
