It starts of very preachy to the point where it can be kind of annoying. But at the very least it does establish a tone and makes it clear that it doesn't want to be overly dreary or grim dark like the warner brothers shit. They have been making a true supes family story true to the ideals that you'd expect.
And after the first few episodes it really gets into its own. It expands the cast and develops all the characters splendidly.
In terms of character growth and developed characters it is probably my favourite capes TV show right now. But it's most certainly still a show with flaws, but what show isn't?
Disregarding the crossover (that was still amusing in its own right based on pure fanservice), I wager the Supergirl TV series as a series that has consistently gotten gradually better and better with each episode.
Take that as you wish. I am not saying that you or anyone else is bound to like it, but it is a show that gets better and improves on itself so I'd recommend to give it a fair chance and not drop it too early.
