I think Jane could have had some meaningful development in the wake of her whole 'mind-controlled' self and reconciliation with the Alphas that never happened. That being, whilst it's good to be someone that people depend on and feel comfortable sharing problems with, you can't overshadow your own desires at the expense of their feelings for extended periods of time or it leads to resentment. Some measure of selfishness is necessary for healthy living for most people; that doesn't mean you have to be less of a cheerful, positive person. I would argue that you can see this eventual revelation with Nanna Crocker given she was a notorious prankster, which is something she found joy in at the expense of others, yet she was still regarded fondly.
The problem is, there was never any time to meaningfully show the Alphas coming together again and reflecting on what they'd learnt. Dirk got his time with Dave which was really solid closure for the both of them, Roxy had already sorted her shit out by then, but Jake and Jane were just left untouched.

So, with Homestuck having ended I decided to go through it to see what all the fuss was about. I'm near the end of act 4 and so far, I am completely blown away.
My only complaint so far is that the parts where the trolls and everyone are messaging each other go on for a bit too long (I love time travel/time paradox shit so it isn't THAT bad for me)

Game Over is more in the vein of Descend and Collide in that it's a lot of character arc climax and lots of plot resolution and motion happening.
If everyone didn't die during Game Over it would have actually led quite well into Endgame. It really wasn't until after the retcons hit that the comic became truly beyond hope.

Collide was a bunch of late-introduction minibosses we were supposed to care about (and didn't), Spades Slick being shuffled into the villains deck like he wasn't a protagonist, and a Lord English "fight" that involved large crowds of people doing nothing while he bonked them in the head. The only worthwhile boss that needed killing right then was just KOed in a private duel where the only MAIN character involved utterly failed to influence anything.
So, how will (Terezi) explain (Karkat) about her newfound lesbianism?
