There was a whole subplot added in the Chinese cut of the film of this guy coming up with a new procedure to remove the shrapnel stuck in Tony's heart. Black Widow is real strange in the MCU. It's so clear that they were initially thinking of using Janet instead. And it was made especially glaring in Age of Ultron.
