Time for best ship.

You know, reading the X-Men I've never quite gotten the love for Storm; she always seemed really boring and kind of cunty. I figured reading her in the context of Claremont's run would change my opinion.
It didn't. Storm fucking sucks. So does Colossus. Nightcrawler has a lot of charm and is just an enjoyable character to read, even if he's never particularly the focus though.
>>82525598
Kurt is the fucking best.
>>82525598
Storm's real highlight are the mohawk years when she has no powers.
>>82525598
Different strokes. I like Colossus because he's straightforward, but I wouldn't expect everyone to. Although I think it's worth noting that most people show love for Storm during her mohawk phase or her appearances throughout the '90s and 2000s - it's rare for people to mention her cat-eyed, flower child shtick unprompted.
It's been great seeing Nightcrawler's early days, though. Seeing him try to council Cyclops and others adds a lot to his decisions down the road.
>>82525989
> arcade lightening a match off Doom
You can feel John Byrne's burning anger.
>>82525594
>Affects weather from Eastern Europe to South America, with the range still growing
>Doom almost fucked over the world for a statue
Seems about right.
>>82525598
Colossus is my favorite character on the team.
>>82526234
>IGGLUGGMPGH
>>82525127
>Space Battleship Yamato poster
>Not even a Star Blazers one
Is Bobby as big of a weeb as Logan?
>>82525598
just until she has to fight Callisto, also how long until we get to the morlocks ?
>>82526022
>It's been great seeing Nightcrawler's early days, though. Seeing him try to council Cyclops and others adds a lot to his decisions down the road.
Yeah, I really like that. People always use the "character is the heart of the team" shtick by showing the character as being kind of upbeat but Kurt, in addition to being an upbeat guy, is always the one to try and talk with his teammate, lend them an ear and help them vent about their problems. He's the bro-tier as fuck.
>>82526325
A week, maybe?
>>82526374
Forgot image like a dummy again
>>82525127
Hey, it's that crappy panel layout. At least they bothered to insert a guiding arrow.
>>82524885
Is that not Dr. Doom on the right sight of the page? How do people not notice that he's standing right there?
>>82525215
Why is Kitty sitting this one out? I keep thinking I miss stuff but I keep up with every thread.
>>82527271
One of the demonic portals that litter Xavier's property opened up.
>>82525127
> twenty straight hours, but the result looks good
Good one, bobby
>>82526285
When I read this particular sequence as a kid, I thought the way Wolverine managed to defeat his trap was a bit of a cop-out. Reading it now as an adult, though, I sort of appreciate it better as it seems like one of those "thinking out of the box" solutions.
aww yeah back to the team
i haven't finished the Dazzler issues
>>82528208
People have expressed trouble keeping up before so I'll probably shorten the storytimes from here on out.
>>82528244
Oops that was meant to be for
>>82528196
Ah, yes. This is the story where Arcade buddies up and offers to destroy the X-Men in return for Doom not taking his head off for tricking Toad into buying a timeshare in Doomstadt castle while Doom was away. Good times.
>all this love for Nightcrawler and Colossus
It does me old heart good to see so many fans of my two favorite X-Men.
>>82526043
If I'm not mistaken, they weaseled out of that by claiming it was a Doombot and, because it didn't kill Arcade for his disrespectful show of familiarity, Doom made it self-destruct after noticing a scuff left by the match.
>>82529152
Wait is magneto costume made out of metal ?
>>82529199
Yeah.
>>82529525
HERE COMES MAGNETO JEWISH STORY!
That's all for today, tomorrow we read more Dazzler! Until then!
>>82526533
I really loved the second Claremont-Cockrum run on Uncanny X-Men. I know their first run and the stuff with Byrne are the go-to reads for those looking for classic Claremont X-Men, but what I love about this period was the whole theme of the team trying to pick up the pieces and moving past the tragedy of Jean's death. It really cemented the feeling that the X-Men were a family, and the way they carried that loss with them really made the characters resonate with me.
>>82527181
Octopon is lovely this time of the year...
God, I love Cockrum designs.
X-Anon, when does the Kitty and Wolverine mini come in? Where they visit japan.
>>82530668
Oh man, that is a long ways off since that comes after UXM 188.
>>82527358
Has there ever been a proper explanation as to why he has so much demonic stuff on the grounds - specifically, why it's all on the grounds instead of being put away somewhere safe? Even a throwaway line would be fine.
>>82528396
I think another writer retconned that further, saying Doom was merely pretending to be a doombot because, that's the kind of convoluted megalomaniac Doom is.
>>82531597
Nope, and it's pretty much just the N'Garai using gateways.
>>82525100
I can't think of anything more terrifying than seeing Xavier's floating, disembodied head appearing in the sky to force me to do his bidding.
>>82527145
>>82527181
Well Scott, it looks like R'yleh.
>>82525127
Is it ever explained why Xavier couldn't connect with the X-men they thought died in Magneto's volcano base or afterward?
>>82527438
Does studying to become an accountant really require hours like that?
>>82525178
I guess this is the explanation for even back during Neal Adam's run?
x-bump for x-reading
I wonder, do you think Claremont would have paired up Storm and Kitty? I know they have a sister styled relationship but still.
>>82526413
Damn, Storm.
>>82527358
>he doesn't have demonic portals laying around his house
>2016
>>82528244
I like that we get through a lot of stuff at a time. I think it's a bit easier for the reader to pick and choose on what they want to read though, like me personally I'm kind of skipping the Dazzler stuff since it's largely removed from the X-Men and I don't particularly like the character.
>>82525598
>Nightcrawler has a lot of charm and is just an enjoyable character to read, even if he's never particularly the focus though.
Kurt's just the best X-Man. It's a shame most people only take away from him the religious aspect, because I like the fun-loving swashbuckler.
>>82531788
Byrrne retconned it almost immediately, as we know, and I believe Ewing retconned it back around AXIS.
I'm trying to read through X-men comics myself, but I'm have a hard time finding obscure old stuff like Black Sun and the Bishop miniseries.
>>82525770
>third panel
Foreshadowing?
>>82525178
Flyclops?
>>82529130
Jesus, Storm.
>>82529555
so looks so happy, having crushed another mans soul
>>82528089
Y'know, I've never really followed the series closely (so thank you for storytiming), and I never realized Charles was such a hard-ass. I always had the Patrick Stewart version of him in my head.
Imagine you are masturbating in your room, peacefully, and suddenly an big ass astral plane Charles head tells you to come down immediately for some urgent issue.
>>82527756
That fucking Kitty outfit.
>>82533908
>would Claremont have paired up two women
Anon listen to yourself.
>>82534495
I actually like that he's fairly positive religious character which, especially nowadays, is kind of a rare thing. Shame about what Kirkman did to his Utlimate counterpart by turning him into a religious nutjob out of nowhere.
Speaking of, is Ultimate X-Men going to be included in this?
>>82528105
>Storm's reaction to that getup is along the lines of "she must have lost a bet or something"'
quaintest of keks
>>82537560
Yes, and so is X-Men 2099, X-Men Forever and MC2 stuff, among other out-of-continuity things.
>>82537479
oh gee i dunno
Is Claremont the most 4 chan writer of all time in terms of fetishes?
>>82537755
Perhaps his writing influenced the inception of our fetishes.
>>82537560
Yeah, but I don't like it when they make him straight-up a priest.
>>82537755
I don't remember any dickgirls or egglaying.
>>82538459
Well, there are rumors are Destiny and Mystique.
>>82538497
Rumors schmrumors

>>82532955
Nope. He just got the news from Phoenix, you know, the omniscient psychic, and went off to space to fuck bird queen. He just got more powerful, I guess, since he can now track everyone from across the globe.
>>82525316
Storm is saving the lives of the rest of the team at this moment.
>>82531597
>>82531823
I live in upstate New York, there's hella-lots of spooky ghost stories and creepy regional stuff up here. I'm twenty minutes drive from the actual Sleepy Hollow. I know of three haunted houses, two haunted manstreet stores, and one haunted grain silo. That's not even going into all the the Native Peoples' legends that are always way more creepy.
In the comics the N'garai are related to the Cythulhu mythology, well H.P. Lovecraft wrote several of his stories when living in Albany (upstate) New York.
It makes perfect sense to me. I guess the writers just thought nobody would question it.
Then again, it can also be reasoned away as typical superhero luck.
>>82538497
Okay,
(A): Claremont was into a lot of obvious fetishes but sadly not dickgirls.
and...
(B): Of course Raven did that, she's a Bi-lesbian shapeshifter. Doie.
>>82525989
Obvious Doombot.
>>82542216
Not according to Ewing.
>>82526467
What is this White Wolf that Colossus keeps talking about?
>>82542308
Hold on. I thought the whole point of Doombots was to be able to headcanon-retcon away any story that doesn't fit with the reader's DOOMspectations.
Pinning down any one scene of silliness or defeat as canon DOOM betrays the original intent of that storytelling trick.
>>82526615
New kink spotted: blindfold play. I wonder if Scott and Jean ever did that one off-screen?
>>82542516
It's a culturally specific Ruskie thing, you know: cruel Russian winters full of vodka and all that guff.
... unless they actually wrote a big-ass white wolf into the Marvel X-mythology? (that'd be awesome)
>>82542631
Are you just not familiar with his powerset?
>>82542779
I assumed they fucked very carefully with just the glasses.
>>82542516
He's a Moorcock fan?
>>82542798
...it's like a mutant porcupine joke
>>82542216
Would a robot want to bang Storm?
>>82528105
>>82537663
Kitty looks sad. Maybe it is because someone made her dress like a clown. Let's see how well she can do a pratfall!
>>82543793
Everyone else does.
>>82543923
Even Xavier?
>>82544000
Xavier wanted to bang everyone. he just mind controlled himself not to ever act on it because sacred student-teacher bond
>>82544035
Riiiiiiiiight.
...OR (hear me out here) he would have... but he was a paraplegic and couldn't feels his little Juggernaut.
So what was the use of sexing up his mind slav-er... "students"?
>>82544229
telepathic sex is a thing. Scott and Emma used to psychic-bang all the time
>>82544229
>>82544284
What, no comments on how Bobby called poor Jean "pruneface"?
>>82544284
I actually do have a pic of Pedo X brain-boinking one of his students, but I had this picture and really wanted to work in the phrase "little Juggernaut".
>>82528864
>Avengers Annual #10
That's Claremont's famous answer to Avengers #200.
Oh, holy Phoenix! Peoples...
Peoples, I hafta ask you, I just hafta:
>WTF is wrong with this picture?
>>82527216
I mean, tell me you see this too.
There is something very wrong on that page.
>>82544618
I'm gonna need you to supply that picture, that I may use it in future.
>>82544981
Blindfolds aren't made of ruby quartz?
>>82545022
You are one sick sick Claremont fan.
>>82528973
I can't believe no one bothered to ask about Scott's ridiculous outfit. Maybe they are numb to such horrors after spending time with Kitty dressed as she is.
>>82545711
I think it's awesome. I wish I had a shirt with a giant golden octopus on it.
>>82545022
>>82525711
But Bobby, you has the gay.
