I don't think there's something like an average for droids as a whole; you could gauge the different categories of droids though, I think, but even excluding the Cat 4 (military) it entirely depends on their owner and upwards compatibility and/or ability to keep themselves running.

A couple reasons, at least for me personally.
1. He does nothing really in the OT, his armor while it has a cool design is ruined by awful colors and he's terribly over-hyped because he "back-talks Vader" before immediately getting shut up. Bossk while he did less was personally the far better design.
2. The EU, and while I have no problem with them making him a character and cool, the EU went full on gary stu with it, having him kill Jedi constantly and even surviving a sarlacc pit, which there are plenty of non-Boba stupid shit in EU, such as Palpatine creating black holes, Luke force crushing black holes, etc.
3. The fans, the fans are the most insufferable part of Boba Fett. They act like all EU is canon and he's a super speshul snowflaek capable of immortality and massive Jedi killings, despite doing nothing in the EU. When Lucas himself said he wasn't a Mando, they flipped their lid and started drawing some of the most autistic shit ever. Such as Boba killing Sabine (a real Mando and Mickey Mouse) and blaming shit on Disney. Flipping their absolute shit at anybody that doesn't like Boba, and just being overly autistic people.
I have no problem with the Boba Fett short novels with him as a kid after AotC, but his fanbase is very undeserving for what he does in the movies to ever have acquired it considering many of the other characters that got nothing, and the EU just gary stu'd him up hard along with the fans.

I kinda want a Star Wars movie that's a fear-driven kind of thing. Like a semi-horror movie. I just like the idea of a movie about a crew of treasure hunters/scavengers stumbling upon korriban and having them systematically picked off by something ancient.

This Poe comic is doing a really good job of using the new canon material. When I saw that little '* Read about this in Poe's short story in Before the Awakening!' in the last issue I had this little epiphany that this is how the canon worked now. Obviously I knew this from the start but it didn't feel legitimate until that moment. These past two years of lore building have led to this moment where you're seeing the pay off for it in the form of this Poe comic using material from all over the place to tie into the rest of the universe.

There's a number of issues at play here. First is that the FO is not the Empire. Sheev took over by subterfuge, he conquered by tricking people into willingly giving him power and loving him for dominating the galaxy. The FO isn't likely to do that unless, as someone suggested last thread or so, they somehow sneak agents into the brand new senate that has to be created after Hosnian Prime was destroyed.
The FO is also considered much weaker and holds less territory. Unfortunately I don't believe it's known just how much territory they hold because the Unknown Regions are largely unknown. The FO fled there to avoid the peace treaty that was keeping them from rearming and making them pay restitution. The NR isn't about to send in inspectors to make sure they aren't building any new weapons of mass destruction because the FO won't allow it. They specifically went to a place the NR couldn't actually police, at least not effectively.
Early on the NR decided it didn't want to eradicate the entire Empire and would learn to live with some kind of remnant. They didn't want the prolonged galactic conflict necessary to drag them all out and shoot them. Mon Mothma gutted the military to a mere 10% of what they had as the Alliance and what they'd captured by the Empire when it was stated she controlled enough firepower to level any planet she chose. Enough to win the battle of Jakku. She didn't want that kind of power, not a Republic with a military that big or with that much power in the Chancellor's hands, even her own. Most likely to avoid another evil, corrupt, mad, or plain stupid to have total control over the military. She turned it back over to the Senate, so they have to agree as a whole when to use their celebrated fleets that Hux talked about.

The Kanan comic had a "to find out more, read A New Dawn!" too, and that comic is obviously an expansion on the Rebels cartoon.
So yeah, it's taken a few years, but people are really starting to see and feel how everything is connecting, and in a much more fluid way than the EU did. It's very rewarding for people who enjoy reading it all, and it encourages people who were previously uninterested.
I absolutely love it, from the bigger stuff like the Star Wars/Vader comics intertwining, and expanding on the movies. To the more minor stuff, like Rae Sloane showing up in the Kanan comic, or Count Vidian in Twilight Company.
I feel like the LSG felt passionate about building Star Wars like this, and it's paying off nicely.

Thinking about it this is actually pretty damn brilliant considering Grakkus was such a Jediboo with his massive collection. The kind of guy you MIGHT go to for hints about Jedi stuff if you were Lor San Tekka, or Luke trying to find the First Jedi Temple.
