I'm 19 years old, and before you comment "I hate my generation" it's not that. It just sucks that I missed out on the MST3k hayday back in the 90's. Being able to watch new episodes on TV and be able to go see the live shows would have been such a blast. It feels like my connection to the show is less genuine than the hardcore fanbase who watched it from the very beginning. MST is my all time favorite show, but I just feel like I missed out on so much.

I'm 34. In 1991, we lived in a place where the local cable package carried Comedy Central, and I watched that show religiously. And then, after three short months of seeing every episode they aired, we moved. To a completely different state. And we didn't have the cable package with Comedy Central.
I didn't see MST3K again until 1999, the last season, when my parents upgraded to the package that included sci-fi and comedy Central.
I started buying VHS tapes of the show. One of the first things I downloaded was a MST3K mod for Doom 2 (sound package, replaced all the monster noises with quotes from Joel, Tom, and Crow), when Kaazaa was a functional program (like, early 00's) I downloaded at least twenty episodes, and burned every one to CD so I could watch them over and over.
My relationship with MST3K has always been one of missed connections. Only since the rise of YouTube have I been able to watch the whole series, excluding the "lost episodes" from the KTMA era.

"Bitch have you seen "Manos the Hands of Fate" *without* shadowrama? AH-Gon-Eee! Agony! How about "The girl with the gold boots" or "Black Scorpion"? These films are not suitable for human consumption. And far be it from me to forget Mr. B. Natural or the Killer Shrews! Let the comedy be a comedy. It doesn't need forced introspection just because you happened to like "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank".

This is a pretentious bs. Especially the end where he suspects that Mst3k was responsible for his zine writer friend not working on that pursuit any longer. Maybe she outgrew the idea; that's like blaming any form of media that you find objectionable as the cause of a problem because you refuse to invest any real insight into it. A bloo bloo bloo no one noticed the way that Roger Corman liked long periods of walking driving and parking in his movies. He framed the shit out of those shots. Or how Ed Wood couldn't manage to keep continuity between shots. But the lighting when it switched from night to day and back? Magnifico.
>>
>>82513904

Yeah, MST3K wasn't a critique show, It was a comedy show, If you expect anything else, it's only your own fault when you don't get it.

I should have stopped when I read 'Alas'. This smacks of maximum tipping.
>>82514193
I think the point being made is that it's not an analysis. Yes they make light of re-used material, e.g. Final justice using the same shot of the sheriff being shot twice in succession. Or like I referenced certain directorial crutches like Corman not being able to make it through a movie without a shot of people going somewhere. Be it on foot or by car. If the latter, then you better believe you're going to see that car park. I can't string together what's going on otherwise. Thanks Roger. More pointedly the show is essentially a casual critique of the movie in that however you take it, the movie is being implied to be bad. Has that stopped me from getting 50 movie dvd packs of straight cheese? No. Do I carefully review them when I do? Although the option exists and it's not Mst3k's fault I choose to view them in that fashion. >>82514222

I must question this too. In the old stuff all the actors were the writers. I don't think Felicia Day is a writer. Also, she treats every role as gets like is something to retire on, as in she prices herself way to high.

I have every episode of MST3K on my hard drive, including most of the original series that was only available on Wisconsin public broadcast station, thanks to the MST3K archive project. 32 GB of video, took me over a month to torrent it, since I didn't have DSL a few years ago and there were only 2 people seeding it. Would I be fucked legally if I tried to get it hosted? It's such a shame that most of the episodes will never see an official release, and I want to share it with others.
